Okay took the car for a run the other day and could notice a very strong smell of fuel (car had smelt rich for a while),Next min the cabin became engulffed in smoke and car seemed to lose power.Pulled over and waited for mr aa to arrive. When he did had a nosey and diagnosed the front manifold to turbo gasket has failed(thats why it ran a bit lumpy). When my mechanic fitted my new manifolds a while back I asked him to source the nissan ones as I was told they are thicker it may be that the nuts have come loose and it needs tightening maybe ? failing that its a new gasket.I would have tackled it myself but assumed it needed a ramp to be done ?. So it is at a local garage even though it does not look like a big job cant see it being done before xmas. Does anyone know a part number or what nissan this gasket is off please ? dont know if yt makes any difference mine is a 2.5.

Cheers

Chris

Just call southwest lotus and get them to send them over. The front is a bh to do and hopefully as u had them done not long ago it will come apart easily.

Are the part number not on the wiki?

Hi Martin,

Well my manifolds are the stainless ones and not too old so hopefully the studs will come out easy enough im assuming it can be done without a ramp but easier with one no part number on the wiki

The biggest problem with the manifold to turbo gasket failing is the hot gases leaking out can cook the wireing around it !!! I would have a good check around to make dure everything is ok !!!! If the lambda cable is damaged that would make it go rich !!

I tried to tighten mine without a ramp. I would say it's near impossible without a ramp.

But with a ramp you can change a front turbo in about 40 minutes after a bit of practice, all through the triangle

Hi guys

I've just fallen foul of beer and eBay! a really good condition steel exhaust and pipe work (only one cat) the other was blocked £10.50!!!😺 However there is no rust evident at all, the only issue is the studs have been cut on the main silencer. I can drill them out and put new studding in, held in place with a weld if that will do it? My main question is what would you coat it with to protect it as I'm considering removing my existing exhaust, to clean up the rear end and there are some very rusty bolts holding it together.

Thoughts please
