Trouble is how much do I ask with prices so varied? 2003 GTO3 with 54,000 on the clock.

There's not many GT03s for sale. There are a few GTOs some of these are 27000 thousand but have been up for sale for a long time.
I would think 25000 would be a starting price.

"not tracked."
How does that affect the price - good or bad?

Some might say it's bad, specially when it looks so much like a track car but might need a few thousand spent on it to be safely used as one...

I'd only buy a track-prepared car if my intention was to track it (in which case the condition wouldn't bother me). Component wear on tracked cars can be a factor of 4-6 times over normal use IMHO.

There are many different levels of track prep, but if it hasn't got a decent sump on it you can blow a bottom end in a lap of hard driving if you really want to. Not to mention the state I've seen some of the standard open diffs have been in when they've been removed.

Other than that you're right. You could get away with a standard sump and LSD for years as long as you didn't have a group of mates suddenly say "oh come on, just one track day, what's the worst that could happen?"
