Tunnel cooling mod .....And hoses
Discussion
Well I decided to change few hoses for silicone ones as they where starting to weep whilst standing .....well nearly all of them really before coolant is emptied over the garage,I thought it a good time to do the tunnel cooling mod ....remove the old flanges to re use and removed ally plate to fix them too .......well I would love to meet the knob who put the screws behind the steering rack braces 😁
Yep I managed to get them off as I wanted slide the two collars I removed from the heater in from back and seal them in with seam sealer/panel adhesive.
Do you open up the ducts on front or are they ok and is there any benefits from switching tunel vents to point to the back ......just a thought.
Cheers

I've altered my cooling mod to take air from ducts in the floor, leaving me four inlets for the heater box.
I still have the front of the car striped down so I'll take some pictures if required.
Don't think the reduced air under the car will effect the downforce to much on my road car, and ground clearance is only slightly reduced

What happens when it rains?I still have the front of the car striped down so I'll take some pictures if required.

When the normal tunnel cooling mod is preformed, it's from the back of the brake ducts, picking up water and spray and sending it straight down the roughly horizontal pipe.
My section has a short length of vertical climb, and a much smaller intake area, i doubt it would be any worse than the normal mod.
Any water can drain out the tunnel anyway

The normal way of doing it is that if you look at the car, two hoses from the right brake duct go to the heater box, and two from the left brake duct go to the heater box, so four feeds into the heater box in total.
You take two of those pipes, block the inlets into the heater box, and replumb them to the bulkhead to feed air into the tunnel.
I think the tunnel louvers should face rear wards, i.e if you look from the back to the front of the car you can see the holes of the vent. air passes over them under the car and draws the hot air out of the tunnel, rather than being ducts to force it in.

Well managed to get if all back together last night .....may have been easyier if I was a trapeze artist that could do key hole surgery ?? just wondering if when this mod is done do you normally remove plate in centre of front ducts! Why is it there is it to stop water ?
i removed it to let more air in.Gassing Station | Noble | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
