Hi all,
So I've removed the heater box, and I now understand why the cooling system is so rubbish.

I want to remove the dash and windscreen and sort the cooling out one a for all with a new heater box, motor, pipework and vents.

How do you remove the windscreen? If it is a professional job, what are they likely to charge?

And the dash, do you need to access the tunnel? Any other tips?

I plan to only have fresh air, fixed distribution, no heater, and a nice strong fan

The windscreen is directly glazed, IOW, bonded to car. It's a job for a professional, or a very clued up DIY-er.

I used lock wire with two pieces of wooden dowel tied to each end( just like a chess cutter) put a small hole through and worked my way round the screen.

Well the good news is I don't think I need to take the windscreen out after all. I have all the gauges out, the centre panel, and all the steering surround.
Dash isn't for moving though, must be bonded somewhere.

dah had nuts all round the windscreen on the underside, and also screws to the chasis rails along the front.... I took the screen out myself with wire and rebounded it back in myself.

The issue with the heater box will be that the evaporator will be cacked in mud as there isn't a filter, this is what had happened to mine.

Hi Andy,

Could you describe the location of the chassis screws? I have all the windscreen ones done but something is holding it to the tunnel, but i can see any fixings.

Air conditioning evaporator is full of crud as expected, I'll retro fit a pollen filter I think.

Thanks
Matt

Bloody nobles!

Turns out mine doesn't have the cross member screws or the tunnel screws and was bonded in.

Looks scary with the dash out.
