I,m new to the site
I am researching fitting the 3.0v6 to a GTM Libra
As the car weighs 800kg a high final drive would be good

I am told there are wise birds on the Noble site......

1. Does the diesel 6 speed fit the v6

or if not

2. Can I fit a high diesel final drive to the v6 gearbox

Thanks

Pete

We use the ST220 box from the mondeo on our 3L V6's... it does fit the 2.5L as well.

My car can do 200mph with this box and the V6 so I don't think the diesel will be geared faster... the ST220 box is £200-£250 second hand, I bought a second hand one fro £250, 4 years ago, had a quiafe fitted with oil cooling and have run 500-600ftlb through it for all that time without issue yet.

My car weighs 1030kgs with fuel with full carbon body so its one of the lightest out there, with the V6 I cant see any car being significantly lighter no matter what the design as you will need brakes and wheels etc to cope.
The lotus has gone up to 1100kgs now they run a similar V6.

From memory, and I might be wrong, when I looked into this I think the Jaguar 3.0 V6 has the highest ratio 6th gear available.

I believe the jags are inline rather than traverse so won't fit

Btw if your building a libra you might know Ferg who is a very good friend of mine and a long term owner :-)

Thanks for the feedback

It is still difficult to know whether the diff in the diesel box is higher or even compatible with the box on the v6
With a max speed of 150 for an st220 at most likely less than max revs the gearing may well be high anyway
I guess near 200 would be 6000 plus.
transverse box will be needed not inline type

I don't know the GTM Libra guys - contact would be good

I have been playing with the late 1990s ish Scimitar Sabre with Nissan power from the 200sx running VVT turbo and Emerald
Slower than your cars

I think the 2.5 & 3.0 X type is transverse (Mondeo based) and the 5th or 6th gear (either MTX75 or MTT 6)was longer than in the ST220 based box. I'll check again...
