Was sat waiting outside a friends house with the engine running - had only driven a couple of miles. I noticed a wisp of steam coming from inside the front clam, close to the mounting point of the right wiper. Lasted a few seconds then stopped. Had a look when I got home and can't see anything there to indicate coolant leaks, etc. but then I probably wouldn't. Is that what it probably was? I think I am losing a little coolant somewhere - so hard to be sure as the level seems to rise and fall after every drive.

I sometimes see steam rising from my front clam. As far as I can tell on mine though, it's rain water dripping on the rad & worrying me unnecessarily!

Hmm. Wasn't raining but had been through a puddle or two. Just haven't seen it before is all.

Mine does it just the right amount of times to make me paranoid about it! Maybe some water hanging around from earlier, fingers crossed.

The bad news is that the standard rads have a tendancy to crack- possibly they are pinched tight between the chassis rails.
Check the lower edges where the fine tubes meet the end tanks and you may find an issue.

Mine was like that for a whle before it finally became a problem.

Proalloy have the solution, it's not cheap but then a standard one is £500 ish!
