Further to the 3D Printer thread - Does anyone know what car the heater controls are out of? Model and specific year would be great if the knowledge is out there...

Perhaps these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ford-mondeo-mk2-heater-c...

Cheers guys - Without trying to pull my dash apart in the dark, are they just push fit? There doesn't seem to be any obvious fixing on the photos of the ones ive seen.

Yes just push on. They've got a clip holding them tight on the spindles. The AC one in the middle is slightly different due to the illumination and the way it pushes to engage the switch.

Cheers, do you need to take the whole assembly off to get to the back off the control knobs to unclip them?

the knobs themselves just pull out and can be pushed back in... the facia behind is much harder to replace, the front dash has to come off then it can be clipped off and new one put on... the brand new facia was £20 from ebay and the buttons around £4 each.

Pretty sure the facia was escort cosworth as thats what I fitted

I'm afraid it wasn't mate - possibly RS2000? Definitely mk6/7 (as are the column stalks) as the Cossie was based on the mk5 and the dials were different.

Inspired by the 3R wheels.

Hi Ant, I am currently look at a redesign of the air vents and my constant reference is context. How does the design look in it's actual environment. Maybe Photoshop the dial into a picture of the dash. If you are happy with that then it's a winner smile

You are right, it needs to look correct in context. The fact its modelled in sketchup doesnt help as it facets all the radii when you are working on it and im mainly used to designing buildings on it (mostly straight lines)
