Snetterton this weekend
Discussion
Hi all,
just a note to say will be doing GT cup at Snetterton this weekend in case any locals fancy popping along,
My first time at the track so looking forward to learning another new one, Jetstream made some changes to the set up and obv the new engine helped me to 2 wins at Knockhill last weekend even with no 5th gear, so hoping I can learn the track quickly and be on the pace of the faster guys by the end of the weekend.
Cheers

Good luck Graham! We're still in Belgium so won't be able to come along. It's a great circuit for a Noble with the right set up. You'll find that Coram just keeps going round and then with no apex /exit /breaking point the track turns sharply left (Murray? ) to lead into the main straight. Takes a bit of getting used to, especially if you know the old configuration!
Thanks guys, yeah it's a nice smooth looking track, need to learn fast tomorrow! think the car should take it well.
Sat- quali 12:10, 45 minute race 14:25
Sun- quali 09:35, 25 min races 11:45 + 14:15.

Qualified 17th from 35 with a 1.59.6 then in the race got up to 12th I think after pit stops but then started to get a misfire and dropped places, finished 17th. Consistent. Lol
On further inspection the fuel pressure on idle was only 1 bar so we've popped it back up to 43psi that it should be. I wonder if the regulator is struggling to keep up.
Hopefully it's fine though and tomorrow I can get back up to near top ten,
Highlights from today's race, keeping the balfe Motorsport 458 GT3 behind me for several laps, swapping paint with a 911 GT3 cup car in an awesome 3/4 lap battle, (I damaged his splitter but he took paint off my Dymag) and driving blind at 120mph+ in a cloud of concrete dust. Hitting 155 on the Bentley straight with 2 wheels on the grass as a Porsche tried to close the door.

Nice car and nicely driven. The safety car messed up positions in the morning race I thought.
The last race had good action all round and judging by how you pulled out such a large gap from the
Lambo would I be right in thinking you caressed the boost control a smidgen?

Thanks Bob, glad you enjoyed it, no manipulation of the boost control at all, at 500bhp I am 40-70bhp down on most of those challenge cars, I just got to grips with the track and really started to push in the corners as the weekend went on, see lap times below. The last race had good action all round and judging by how you pulled out such a large gap from the

yeah in race 1 it was going well until the safety car, I moved up from 21st to 12th I think (still need to see lap sheets) but on the restart I had a lock up and bumped the same 911 that turned in on me on Saturday, so we swapped more paint but I ended up on the grass and dropped back to 20th, in the last couple of laps managed to pull back to 18th place.
Due to qualifying being determined by lap times from race 1 which was a 1.58, the last race my grid position was 14th which was a boost, it got me up to where I felt I should have been if not for misfires etc.
So the last race was my best GT cup result this season, started 14th and swapped a few positions in the first 4 corners until things settled down, then I put the hammer down and reeled in the group in front which consisted of 2 porsches, the Lambo and the Radical RXC. In a couple of swift moves exiting the corner onto the Bentley straight and the start straight I took both Porsche cup cars as they didn't defend, then took both the Radical and outbraked the Lambo under the bridge, probably my favourite passes this season too. Then had open road and pulled away a fairly big gap as the Lambo and radical fought and held up the porches etc, I was gaining on cars 5th-9th at a good rate of knots but a couple of laps from the end almost lost it at coram and decided to back off and secure 10th spot as the next group were probably too far ahead to catch.
Best lap times roughly over the weekend-
Saturday
Practice 1) 2,10 (greasy)
Practice 2) 2,02 (dry)
Quali) 1,59.9
Race 1) 1,59.7
Sunday
Quali) 2,00
Race 1) 1,58.9
Race 2) 1,57.86 - best
for comparison purposes here are the touring cars lap records...
Qualifying Lap Record: Sam Tordoff: 1m56.696s (91.58mph) 2013
Race Lap Record: Sam Tordoff: 1m58.092s (90.50mph) 2013
very challenging and fun in the end but wouldn't say it was my favourite track, all in all a great weekend .
