Right, the car has electrics now (yay!) however the fuel pump is still not working. The relay is clicking on and clicking off after a few seconds. So I'm guessing this means that either there is an issue in the wiring from the relay to the pump or the pump itself. All the fuses by the ECU are okay and in the cab. Before I go and buy a replacement pump, is there something else this could be or am I missing anything??

Am I right in thinking the part number for the original pump is Bosch 0580254910 has anyone used the apparent replacement for the Bosch, the Sytec OTP019?

check to see if you have 12v at the wire to the pump

I haven't complete the wiring upgrade for the 044 pump yet. It's on my list but I have back to back events for the next 4-5 weeks so wanted to just get the car working. Does the 44 work without the wiring upgrade?

It will work, it just might not be running as well as it could.

Amazing, so I could buy the 044, run it on the standard loom and then make the upgrade to the wiring at a later date?

yes. It is fairly easy to do the wiring upgrade if you can get underneath your car.

When the engine is not running but the ignition is turned on the relay will click on for 5 seconds then click off... It's controlled by the ecu and is a safety feature.

The first test I would do is disconnect the fuel pump wiring and run a battery to it direct (both terminals) to check it works before you replace it.

You can then consider fitting the 044 and doing the wire upgrade ( which is very simple).

It would be a waste of time fitting the pump without the wiring mod.

All the wiring is done from above???

Not sure how you can say that without knowing what voltage he has at the pump.
The ecu looks at the cam sensor if it gets no rotation pulses it turns the pump off.
As Andy said, connect the pump to a 12volt supply and check it is working ok,

General advise seems to be not to run the 044 on the same wiring as it draws more current. I have taken a look at the wiring upgrade. I have some questions about the wiring of the relay and edited this diagram:

Is this correct?
What size wire should be used for the power and earths?

Thanks in advance.

2 small differences

Both the existing wires that go to the fuel pump now got to the switching points on the relay... i.e. these activate the relay.

Main power comes from the battery but you can take this feed from the starter motor power feed to reduce the amount of wire.

Sorry Andy you need to treat my like a 3 year old when it comes to electrics. I think i'm confusing myself, so to clarify, you take the existing + and - to the pump and put that on 85 and 86 "as is". So the original wiring basically activates the switch rather than the pump itself. That would make A LOT of sense I guess and then you don't need to cut any of the ECU harness cables. I think I may have just been over complicating this in my head. Let me know if I still have the wrong end of the stick.

PS. Are you at SS Classics?

I have included an updated diagram for the relay wiring in case any other idiots like me search in the future.
