Hi All,

I have been having some electrical issues with my car recently. The battery needs replacing and thought it was a 075, I put a new 075 in which was 65 ah ( what I believed to be standard for a 075) however on closer inspection the battery which came out was a 075 but 70ah. The 65ah battery would not work so I'm guessing the car needs at least 70ah or over but I can't find any 075 with 70ah. 069 size batteries are only 20mm longer but the Bosch and the Varta are both over 70ah and have good cold crank figures. Is anyone using either of these or does anyone have any recommendations for batteries?

Thanks in advance.

I changed mine a few months back and have had no issues at all. Mine is a Bosch S5 type 075 from eurocar parts part number on my receipt is 444770758 at a cost of £85.10

That's what i was originally looking at but 60ah and 65ah battery would not work. I was getting nothing not even hazard lights. After two batteries I put the old 70ah battery in and it came back to life.

That seems a bit strange - not even a glimmer? what if you connected a bulb with some spare wire across the terminals? Sounds like 2 duff batteries (which is also in itself a bit odd)

It was very strange, they were new batteries so the likelihood hood of them being duds would be super slim. Iv had the vehicle recovered back now as I could drive the car there after a charge but after taking the old battery out and putting it back in it won't hold enough charge to do anything unless it was plugged into the jump pack. So stumped with this one... also worth saying tested all fuses and relays and all look good.

If the car won't run on a brand new 65ah you have an issue, was it charged first as it sounds like it was already totally flat???... certainly I ran mine on a 65ah 075 battery for years and only a drain killed it.

the Ah (amps hour) just means how long it will be before it goes flat, its the cold cranking amps that dictates if it will start the car (an 075 will have over 500cca)... you can (and I do) run the car on MUCH lower than 70ah, hell Im running less than 40ah!

Incidentally with around half the AH of a stock battery I can still leave the car 3 weeks alarmed and still have over 12volts and more than enough to start the car so, if your car goes 'flat' in similar time you have a battery drain!

Andy that makes sense. I'm going to go through it all again today. I woke up last night with the premonition it may be a poor earth.

Out of interested, does anyone know the standard fuel pump on GTO3? Concerned mine is on the blink I will fit the 044 in time but I really want the car to at least work for SS Classics.
