Ok my clutch has not gone feels fine at the moment but cars on 86k and I know sooner or later its going to let go.Now I know the engine out job and cutting chassis rail options realisticaly what sort of cost to carry out both options ? am I right in thinking a standard clutch is around 500 notes ?. am I right in thinking cutting rail cuts labour by half ?

Sounds gritty mate. Mind you, my clutch master cylinder seal will go eventually which is engine out too. So let me know what the final price is....

You're a whole 60k miles more than me. Good usage. Congrats.

Problem is Chris. Its worth getting a low milage Mondeo box and getting the gearbox man to do his work and upgrade clutch also. So costs go up.

500 for clutch and labour is around 1500 to 2000. Worth having the gearbox upgraded while you are there at that price.

The problem is where to start & stop.
As for cutting the side chassis bar to remove the box don't bother as you still need to unbolt the engine to raise it up for removal & it's & it's a pig of a job, those in the know that have tried it reckon stick with removing the engine.

Assuming all is still working well which is testimony to the car at 86k why bother taking out until it needs too.

Ok so that sounds like the sensible option just lift the engine out.I have no intention of doing it till something lets go just wondering what the costs involved were ?

When i was getting quotes, engine in and out tended to be a fixed price arounds £1k, and then you had the parts and labour to swap the clutch on top.

Thanks
Matt

Is the short shift their upgraded shift linkage? I will also have a LSD fitted and uprated clutch when it goes so interested to know the cost, are you upgrading the gearbox aswell?

I don't know the exact prices yet but the LSD and uprated clutch is around £2600 the short shift is there design and is roughly £400 I've had the engine bay chassis section stripped and repainted as it was looking a bit rusty
I haven't done anything with the gearbox as I've run out of money lol I will have a look at the turbos and the gearbox over the winter
