Hi all

I have a dilema. My car, engine wise is standard. I dont have intentions of loads more power, just replacing bits that go wrong with better kit when time comes. So at the moment im happy.

So, after Jed and I went for a blast on sunday, I got to see what his car was like and as hes running protechs it felt more planted.

So my options are, do the protechs and have better feel with standard power. Or exhaust. If i do exhaust then it probably need fuel pump upgrade and maybe remap if I get the PA intercooler at the same time, which all starts to add up. Tux thinks protechs might be better for my scenario, but I wonder if anyone else has had similar thoughts?

Cheers
Steve

Both is what I would say, with exhaust first. After that then better breaks

Is it a track car or road car?

Do you really think you need either as it's a road car? Why not do as you say and just upgrade whatever fails?

Protechs Steve. They make such a difference to the handling IMO. Plus if you do get it on track you just turn the dial to hard and your set. Tracking the car with a nice exhaust but potentially wobbly sus is surely not the way to go?!

Yours sounds nice anyway and if it doesn't need replacing I wouldn't worry for now. Something for another time and work in all the other bits with it later.

Its a fair point. It will be mainly use on the road - however after the ' very spirited' ;-) drive Jed and I had on sunday made me realise that my handling could do with some work. Trying out Jed's car, his did feel more grounded on protechs.

As I said it comes down to whether its worth doing the exhaust alone?, as to get the full benefit will need fuel pump, intercooler and remap - which is out of my budget for the time being.

The Protechs are designed for fast Road spec and the std springs a slightly stiffer than std GTO springs !! It's only in the last year I have been working on a track spec damper . You can now order a track or road spec .

I'd go for exhaust first but I rarely see the track. The standard exhaust will fall off sooner or later anyway..lol
Extra power, it will rev cleaner and sound nice. Protechs would be nice but maybe get the geometry set up if it's not handling nicely.

I'd add the cost of geo-setup to the protechs total bill anyway , I assume Protech have standardised the valving now , I remember Chris and Andy had very different # Clicks on rebound ?

I had another dabble at the weekend and I've found an even better set-up (6 clicks Rebound, 7 clicks dampening). Bit of leak near the adjuster on one of them so they will be off for a rebuild soon.

Tux - How do the new track springs hold up on the road ?

Think Tux had them developed, best to call them. Think the guy to speak to is Richard.

tuxman, can the track version of the protechs be to your own spring and valve spec? If so I recon it might be worth selling my road protechs and buying the track ones!

Ok the shocks we use are the 600 series 2 way adjustable , anybody with road shocks can upgrade to the track day spec by sending the dampers back and having them serviced and stiffer rear springs fitted . The sacrifice is rear traction , the stiffer springs give less body roll and better lateral grip but under hard acceleration the rear can skip around a bit on uneven surfaces .
Unfortunately Kevin at Protech is in hospital at the moment :-( so there is no stock as
The Noble shocks are a anadised gold which is special order I have ordered 2 sets so there is some in the pipeline , I want a spare set for myself so there is 1 set spare . If anyone is interested pm me for details .
