Think I have developed an exhaust rattle, sounds as if a mounting has given way but all seems to be in order.any suggestions please?Only really noticeable on rough surfaces but didn't do it before I took it on track on Monday, hopefully not related!

Sounds like the bracket on the nearside of the silencer is broken, otherwise it could be the actual baffles inside the box assuming you have the standard Noble system.

How much did they sting you for that if you don't mind me asking?

No charge as the previous weld broke too soon . Very well looked after by Mole Valley , Chris got me in with a days notice . I would say london prices around £50 . Mole valley do an upgraded bracket made by Warren , i've seen it and if i keep the standard exhaust i will certainly do it next time it breaks .

It will break again, and keep breaking, then like mine it will then break the weld where pipe comes out of the silencer frown
It seems some people have no problems, others just keep breaking

I've developed a similar problem but not exactly a rattle. I get a clunk from the rear end somewhere when I go over a pothole or drain cover. I've searched for anything that's obviously loose but nothing is apparent. My exhaust is not standard as the mounts are different (and appear intact), but no idea what I've got though (single silencer - 88dbs).

Do engine mounts get loose on our cars? Or could it be suspension perhaps? Any excuse to change to some adjustable Protechs....
It doesn't seem possible to replicate the problem when the car is static, so not sure how to search for the problem.
Hopefully I'll get my car back soon from my aircon woes. frown

Jet stream do a replacement back box ( which doesn't have the bracket) with a choice of any style of tailpipe
Cheaper than replacing the whole system

Hi John, I have exactly the same thing, the clunk is loud when going over a hole and sometime when accelerating hard, I took the exhaust off and welded up a broken bracket, still have the same noise, it feels like a bush on the suspension more than an exhaust knock now.. Let me know when yours is back and we can meet up at the Keepers, cheers, Steve

Steve - yes would be great to meet and get a comparison of the cars. This issue has manifested over the last couple of months - could well be suspension bushes. I'm hoping to get the car back at the weekend as the new part is being delivered today.
Hope to do Thruxton track day on Friday 27th, but haven't booked yet until I know the car's back and OK.

Just a reminder that thruxton is a 90db day, might need to get yours noise tested before booking smile

Yeah - want to do Thruxton whilst I still have a quiet exhaust. I was measured at 88db at Castle Coombe. Had a conversation with Thruxton who said that if CC measure at 88 then you should be fine here.

Seem to have found my rattle. I've been told my exhaust isn't standard as the brackets are different, but mine still appear to be made of chocolate. This is where the weld appears to have failed - the small plate bolted on with two nuts is just loose/unattached.

Does anyone recognise the exhaust and indeed the bracket? Should it be welded to the section after the cat where it's touching, as I can't see any weld residue?

Closeup - as much detail as I can see in the dark:
