Since buying a smaller wheel I've pushed the steering column back in as I now have more knee room. However, it seems beyond a certain point it starts randomly clicking quite loudly when I move the wheel. Very annoying. Sounds exactly like a heavy key fob banging against the column, but isn't. I take it this isn't a common thing and I'm just lucky?

Pop the plastic cowl off and see what is catching with the front wheels in the air?

If you take the plastic cover off, between the boss and the indicator unit there is a brass plate. This makes a noise if not libricated.

ive recently changed my wheel to
a smaller one and I had a clicking noise - it turned out to be the horn cable hitting the side on turn. I adjusted it and its been fine since.

Are you sure its coming from inside?

Thanks for the replies, will try that now. Definitely inside, indeed probably inside the plastic cover. Doesn't sound like a cable. It's not just when the wheel turns, it's if I place the weight of my arms on the wheel causing slight vertical movement.

Turns out it was my omp extendable steering boss. I had probably over tightened the hex bolts. Loosened and silent. Bliss. Why can't I be a normal sized human being with regular legs?

Lower ball joints. Cheap quick fix. Jack the front end up, does it stop?
