I'm keen to fit a gearbox temperature sensor.
I'll fit an cooler as and when I need to take the engine/gearbox out, and get the gearbox drilled for the oil cooler lines.

But for now I'm thinking if it is possible to just put a temperature sensor in the gearbox sump plug?
I need to know the thread size and length of that sump bolt
If not any idea what the gearbox is, I'm sure some ford person has done it.

Ideas suggestions...
is there somewhere else I can get a sensor in the box to read the temp?

OK if no one knows the thread size, does anyone know the ford car and year the gearbox is from?

I can then contact fords parts department and find out what I need to know.

I know the easy option would be to just remove it but I'm away this month and off to Le Mans as soon as I'm back so I want to order the new sensor now so it's ready for me when I get home.

Hi Jp

Not sure if this totally helps but this is from the wiki.

Sump Plug (2002 M12 GTO)- (Ford) Part no 3051079 (12mm) 4.44 incl VAT.

I know its not the gearbox plug, but it might be similar.

If it's a five speed box then there are a few part numbers for the MTX 75 box. Think our one has the 3.89 final ratio I think. I'm sure I put the part numbers in the wiki or maybe on noble parts frown

Can't remember which but the gearbox plug is either 5/8 or 16mm, they look similar but threads are different so don't force.
