Ultima = 90% sum of its parts
Noble = 110% sum of its parts

as a build/component experience the Ultima is a superior car, its better quality components etc, sounds WAY better and is just that little bit special... however its not as good as it should be, handling on the edge is WAY more on a knife edge than a Noble etc etc.

Me and Tuxman both had canam's (Like Graham has), I loved mine, did loads in it, had autocar feature it, took it to track, developed some parts for it etc etc... my experience was fantastic.... I dont think Tuxman had anywere near as much fun as I did and I know the next owner of my car (who is now a close friend) had loads of pain and stress, dont get me wrong nothing broke on the car, but they do need constant fettling even compared to a Noble to keep nice and reliable... my mate couldn't wield a spanner hence the stress.

Grahams canam is the ONLY ultima I have driven that could lure me back, and its all about the engine and gearbox as he has an LS3 mated to a getrag so it sweat to drive and sounds awsome.... my old SBC had more power and was way better on paper to his LS engine however it idled irratically, tried to overheat in traffic and meant I ALWAYS smelt of petrol when I got out (canam)... these things I hated on my Ultima but the LS cures them.

I'd never swop my noble in for an Ultima... Id have an LS7 or audi canam beside the Noble though... probably with my own chassis and suspension setup under it and carbon body smile

Loved the build experience hated the way it drove , tried everything and spent close on 65k to try and sort it , in fairness it depends what you want from a car , pose through town and leave black stripes everywhere awesome !!!
They look epic as well , but want to do a 800 miles road trip or hammer it around Spa the Noble is just plain better , comfier and faster . You only have too look how many you see on track .

What motors were you running Andys / tux n how did you find them in traffic etc I'm considering a American speed small block or a ls3

both of us ran sbc's... in traffic the cooling is marginal and if the idle goes up a few rpm then a sbc will overheat... the sbc needs constant fettling to keep it idling etc... epic power but thats the only plus side.

LS is definatelly the way to go, grahams one is a fantastic car, has all the power of the SBC, yet idles and overheat etc etc... in fact the sbc is like the noble engine BUT with a decent sountrack... I really rate the engine and the ONLY drawbacks it has compared to a SBC is cost and complexity... both are only an issue when building the car.

My advice... only buy a SBC engined car if its cheap and you can budget 8kish to swop out to an LS or audi v8 engine.

LS1 and LS3 are closely related and I think only minor things were updated... LS7 is the cream if you can afford one, but it would be an epic car.

Carb fed small block first year , bloody awfull , went EFI after that which was a massive step forward , make sure you get aircon that works as you cook in the cockpit , steering is heavy , bump steer is also bad , driving it was exhausting !!!

Anything LS will be a massive step forward !!!
