Winters nearly over.....For me !!!

Well my winter jobs list has nearly been completed....last minute rush as usual due to racing commitment's etc but car is almost ready for the Easter Snowfest at the ring and Spa. The Noble is coming out after about a 18month hibernation.
Eventually got round to stripping off the floor and resealing after powder coating etc.
After painting and waxoyl on the internal structure I decided to go with a self adhesive neoprene rubber rather than the horrible silicone mess that took me days to get off.
Fitted all new ford stub axles with all new bearings, Machined the uprights for Camber adjustment, New Jetstream shifter upgrade, new rear grooved discs, replaced various water hoses and ally joiner tubes underneath along with all new stainless hose clips and generally stripped loads back, cleaned, lubed and put back together right.
As I couldn't stir enough interest in the Speedline group buy I made the decision to go with a Smoked Chrome finish to the wheels and painted the calipers at the same time.... Think it suits the colour well.
Along with some other little Carbon bits and a lot of love and time here's a few pics as it came out of the workshop last night and at the garage for fuel.
Thanks go out to Simon for the rear wing ends, Stevie for various favours, Jetstream for supply of parts and advice...... But most of all to Funky and my mate Adam who have helped tremendously in all aspects of the work, You guys are ace !!

Looks great Matty! Love the wheel colour; really suitsthe car. When were you planning to head to Spa? I should have been there this weekend, but both me and the mrs were feeling cr*p so didn't go. Just as well really. It's snowing and the track temp (not air temp) is between 0 and -5C. Looks like it 's set to stay cold as well.

We're heading out for Friday Rob, initially at the ring with the spa trackday on Easter Monday...... Going to strap my sledge to the rear clam in case they won't let us on track because of snow..... It will then be the challenge of who can get down au rouge the fastest...... Ill only have one try as bugger keep walking up there.
Looking forward to it now graham, been working on the car everyday for nearly 3 weeks. Don't care what the weather does as ill enjoy the trip whatever.

Given that the circuit is complely under snow, the Spa track day today was cancelled. So I'm glad I didn't go! You guys should be fine for next next weekend though. As Graham said temps should be fine although it will be freezing till about Thursday, so how much thaw will have taken place I don't know.
In addition to myweather2.com there is a live cam for the Ring, so you will be able to see what the situation is there (at the entrance to the track, at least!), but I also use this one for Spa:

again it allows you to 'see' the weather and the 10 day fcast is usually pretty good.

I was considering putting my road tyre's back on the car but it will be a mega let down if the sun does shine, although I've been pretty lucky with weather on these trips up till now so I wouldn't be too upset if I had to spend the day tip toeing around and working on wet weather skills, better than being at home I guess, Michelins it is for me. do you not have a set of normal road tyres that can serve as wet weather rubber? I'd be inclined to ditch the worn 888s and replace with a set of Eagle F1s. Given that the forecast temps for next weekend are only just above the recommended min working temp of the cups (around 7C) and that there are showers forecast as well, for most of time you'll be quicker and have a more confidence inspiring drive using F1s (all IMHO of course). What I used to do, before having my spare tyres taken to the track, was wait till the very, very last moment before making a tyre decision, as the closer to the actual day the greater the likelihood is that the forecast will be accurate. About a week ago, they were predicting 13C for this Sunday at Spa! Today of course we know it is -1C and snowing!!Remember, all the carbon in kingdom come will not out-perform a correct choice of tyre
