Hi all,

Anybody here know anything of the car at Stratstone (in the classifieds)?

I've yet to actually make contact with the dealer and obviously it's a good source of info, just would be nice to have some backup here along the lines of 'yes it was owned by xx who did all the upgrades etc...'

Obviously don't tell everyone if it is a good car... I need some bargaining room (and don't want to wake any other potential buyers!)

Doesn't sound like its had any upgrades, except wheels and gear knob, not sure what make of wheels they are !

It says Exhaust i think. No idea on the wheels.

Would be nice to see some engine bay shots. Worth asking if the fuel pump wiring has been done, along with any other mods

Wheels are Team Dynamics and a previous owner did post on here but I'm afraid I don't remember who, or any other details sadly.

Check if it's a 6speed box and has the Track Day sump.

Not sure if all 3s did but the TD is important for track work.

unlikely a 2002 car will have the 6 speed box, LSD or Track day sump

It's a 2.5 no LSD no track sump only making about 290 bhp & typical large main dealer franchise, unhelpful!!

That was one of the main things I hadn't cleared up- it's variously stated as a 2.5 and a 3.0
and a mail to them hasn't elicited a response yet.

I hate to appear so dumb on this point.... I'd made the assumption that the 2.5 was 'a GTO' and that GTO-3 meant 3litre... or were there some 2.5 GTO-3s built?

I'm at 'the cheap end' of the market and need to get a reasonable deal for the 996 so if there's anyone out there with a car to sell and wants a 911 then give me a shout.

Just haven't bonded with the Porsche, nice car though it is.

That is correct.

The GTO did not have an exhaust pointing out the back (it pointed down to the floor) although some have aftermarket exhausts fitted and these show out the back. The GTO 3 has a 3 on the side of the car below the side indicators (can't remember if it also has a 3 on the back). The 3R has different front lights and 3R on the back.

This is just the external visual differences that you might see on a photo to determine what it is as there are a few other things that tell them apart in the engine bay and interior.

Think I'll probably lurk a bit longer till either a very cheap 3 (or a very very cheap 3r- anyone?!) turns up, or save a bit more and hope the prices don't rise too much in summer. Then again, maybe some sun would help sell my C2 Cab..

yep, it's on the list (a short list!).

I guess it just might have been all rather easy if the Stratstone one was a 3 and they'd offer me a workable part ex on mine.
