octane reducer?

Can you increase compression ratio? Is this a race car and if so what do the regs say?
If allowed you could try a high oxygen fuel which might allow you to alter the mixture and/or compression ratio.
If all you can do is mess with the fuel then you really need a light fast burning fuel and the only way you will get that is race fuel. Sadly not a chap option.

i am not allowed to alter the compression ratio and they do spot check cylinder ccs from time to time
the way to make power is to advance the ign - but it is not allowed !
i did some research some time back about heptane

it does appear to be what i am after - but have never tried it before and have no experience
what type of race fuel do i need

Might be miles off the mark but if this is for karting then any real / major competitions you will be made to use controlled fuel. Your also running the risk of scrutineers pulling your fuel for tests if your blasting past people up the straight.
I'm sure you said you'd bought your son a cadet kart. Apologies if it's unrelated, just seen it happen quite often in the past.
