Hi Gents,
Ive been the proud owner of my GTO 3 for a couple of months now and am completely smitten, it even seems to have cured my insatiable car swapping habit.
I returned from holiday a week ago to find that some paint bubbles had started to appear on the offside rear clam.
I've checked again today and in a week the bubbles on the offside have gone crazy and now cover the door and part of the front clam. (The car is stored outside under an expensive car cover)
I have read a couple of other posts and see that this is cause by capillary action on the GRP.
Has anyone else had experience of this, and found any means of prevention?
I'm obviously keen not to have it get any worse!

Interesting.. I took my cover off yesterday after five weeks (in a garage, not outdoors) and noticed loads of paint blisters had appeared around the headlights (3R, so under the b***dy covers where you can't get to them!) but only on the drivers side. Definitely weren't there five weeks ago! Pretty sure the paint was new when I bought the car nine months ago but why now?
If you can get some heat into the paint - like put a fan heater in the garage for a while - those pesky bubbles can disappear without treatment.
If you need to keep the car outside then the cover will help but make sure it's breathable (and slighlty oversized so that flaps about in the wind - very important). If you don't want to spend £180+ then go to halford's for their universal breathable at around £70 which works fine.

Is this a problem with the plastic type covers as I have one of jetstreams indoor covers on mine and don't want this happening to me.
Do you use it indoors or outside? I wouldn't use one of those outside as they don't breath so the moisture stays on the inside and can do damage.simonx50 said:

Must just be a problem with the water proof ones.
It would seem not, as mine has bubbled in near side light cluster. Started when the lens fogged after driving in really heavey rain, keep mine garaged and under my Noble cotton cover. Noticed another bubble under the side mounted Noble badge. Will try the hot air idea, maybe on the inside of the clam to heat the light clusters??Must just be a problem with the water proof ones.
