I was at donnington on sunday and got a chance to speak to the Manager of Roush (they had a stand there)

he explained that 420 bhp is possible from the standard 3.0 Noble m12 and they could remap the car to do this - his concern was traction in the lower gears. We discussed a form of boost control to reduce power in the lower gears and agreed the car could be tamed down to suit.

Permission for them to modify the car has to be given from noble - but it shouldn't be too much of a problem on a car out of warranty

Any takers ?

Nice. I wonder if the MBE ECU can handle traction control?

To be honest I don't think it's really needed in the dry. Had a play with the RaceLogic one in TVR Griffith in the wet. Someones pet project. Amazing! Don't what ever came of it....

Scary to use though. Putting your foot on the floor in a Griff in the wet is just not right. You brain just screems no, no NO!

Dependant on cost, costs are directly proportionate to impending divorce, I am interested.

Most traction control systems use the ABS wheel sensors. There's your first problem.

Wheel sensors are really easy to fit.

yes - the noble can be tuned

My friend has a noble that was upgraded to 377 bhp

It was done at the noble factory with a new program for the ecu

i'm sure there are a few more remaps out there - but the danger is creating a car that is slower on track due to the extra power

I'd like to see somebody use a different ecu with full roads speed / boost control and traction control

but would it ruin the appeal of the noble ?

377bhp? What upgrade is this? there is the 2.5ltr upgrade which gets you to circa 340bhp but no upgrade for the 3l that I know of.

Where was the 377 measured?

Any graphs available? Or in-gear acceleration times?

I fancied getting a Griff this year, but seem to be sticking with my bike currently.
By the time I get back to four wheels I'll probably have enough wonga for a Noble of some sort if I feel the need for a stonking middleweight performance machine...

All the recent Speed 6 hoo har on the TVR forum has now ground me down (),and like in my past, a bit of tuned Ford power could be the way once more!

Sorry Richard - not got any figures on it

basically from what i can make out - its an increase in ignition and not boost - so it shouldn't make the turbo's work any harder

(Why is it all Turbocharged fords can be made to go like a rocket with a few modifications ?)

I hope to have a few answers to these questions(whether they be good or bad) before too long.

My M12 (2.5) goes in tomorrow for some fairly extensive work!

The old (& Knackered!) MM ecu goes. This will be replaced by an Omex unit.

This will (hopefully) result in tinkering with mapping to give a few extra horses. Shift lights and launch control will also come from omex.

New clutch also being fitted !

I'm now working on building an engine monitoring system to give a digital readout of oil temp, oil press, water temp, charge temp and boost pressure.

It all sounds good.........whether or not it works I guess i'll find out !!
