Slow. So slow, it made my Ur-Quattro feel fast.
Appallingly built. Almost everything of note is from the Ford or Volvo parts bin and done on the cheap. Tap the clock - it's plastic, not even crystal FFS.
People will think you can't afford a proper Aston.
Handles like a boat.
The V12 sorts out the performance (just), but you've still got the rest of the issues.

Six months ago I fancied a change and fell for an 18 month old XKR 5.0l Bright red with 510 bhp.
Gorgeous car to drive and as fast as the Noble in a straight line. However. When the time came to sell the Noble I just couldn't do it. It was too much fun to drive and always put a grin on my face.
The Jag is brilliant too, but in a different way. So I kept both of them. I know I would miss the Noble too much and not be able to replace it.

Well having driven virtually every V8 Vantage version in the last 2 years, 4.3/4.7/4.7 SportPack /4.7 Volante, I won't be buying.Poorly built,(especially early 4.3) poor quality materials, all noise and no go in the 4.3, simply dreadful ride with the Sportpack over anything other than billiard table surfaces ( M400 damping puts it to shame).Other than the DB7,(another shocker) quite possibly the most dissapointing cars I've driven.And I couldn't live with an "Emotion Control Unit".I can only assume you buy these for the ownership experience, rather than the driving one,as they don't seem to anything particularly well in any area.Although it's obviously subjective, I didn't even find the noise that pleasant, a Maser Granturismo 4.7S sounds on a different level to my ears.

I test drove a Vantage V8 back to back with a DB9 a few years back, bearing in mind I had a Waffe TT at the time, I felt the vantage was planted but I actually started to rock on the seat and shake the wheel in the vain hope it would pick up and go! a classic example of all show and no go.Come to think of it the reason it felt planted was probably the lack of power to get you into trouble in the first place.
The DB9 on the other hand OMG! Rowing boat in a force 9 gale, this is definately a luxo-barge though a little under budget on the interior.
I love the look of both cars but if it were my money it would have to be a V12 and if you can afford one a DBS though at the moment the second hand V12 Vantage market is still more money than S/H DBS.
Food for thought the V12's are two mondeo lumps sharing a common crankcase.
I would hate to be in a V12 Aston going into a fast bend having to prepare myself for the wafting understeer after feeling the ABS struggling to cope with the monumental weight of the V12 lump 
After a Noble or even Cerb it would soon be a chore to drive any like thing approaching a sporting fashion.

My Dad has a V8 and I have driven it lots including a weekend in France and Spa (not on the track!)
It is slow. But sounds great. And if you like the attention your Noble gets, take an Aston to France!
I'd feel more comfortable it would get to France and back whereas I'd be nervous in a Noble. WAY more practical too!
I would swap my Impreza for one as a daily driver if I didn't love my P1 so much. (plus it's quicker than Dad's AMV8!!)

Interesting - I was looking at getting a DB9 as a family car.
Haven't driven one yet, didn't realise it was such a barge - if you what you say is correct.
I guess I could wait for the Panamera prices to fall a bit more and get one of them. I know everyone thinks they are ugly, but I quite fancy one. Seen a lot on the streets in London and I am actually beginning to like them.

I have the V12V but it was a replacement for the 997TT not the M400 as the Noble and V12V are not really comparable cars as they are completely different animals.
The Aston is way more refined and a much better overall experience than the Noble. May not be as quick and as sharp but much more luxurious and the sound track is awesome. The interior is like comparing a tent with a luxury hotel.
Never tried a V8 but even those can be breathed upon to make them perform and sound much better - search for Bamford Rose.

I looked at a DB9 and a Nissan GT-R before buying the Noble and I'm on my third one and have no regrets even if in truth both of the cars are more refined and better made over the Noble.
I wouldn't even swap for a DBS which for me is my favourite in the Aston group possibly excluding the one-77.
An Aston is fantastic but apart from the first few months of ownership I can't imagine opening up the garage and getting that same feeling. I view the Noble's a bit like the Millennium Falcon from star wars (maybe not that unreliable)they just have a soul about them instead of just being machines. The Vantage is a nice car no doubt about it but it wouldn't be my choice over the Noble.
