One of the best bits about owning a Noble is washing it. Anyone got any tips on cleaning the alloys. I got big hands and can't seem to clean behind the spokes. Thought of jacking the car up to get in there also.

Tried that Meguires tyre gel - very good!

Vegantune take 'em off to do them and I was thinking of doing that myself. I was going to have a good go at it for Rougham tomorrow, but they'll get in a total state on the A12 anyway...

The easiest way I found to clean the alloys is to get the wife to do it with her slim hands and long fingers.

Unfortunatley this option is not something available at Halfords but I have heard that in the back pages of Max Power mags they may be a possible selection. Obviously hand and finger dimensions would need to be stated before a suitable hand could be found.

Look out I think she just walked in ouch !!

At Halfords They do a brake dust remover pad, very cheap and you use it with a wheel cleaner and they will stay like new.

not a big fan of these acidic cleaners as if they get under the laquer they can cause all sorts of mess.

Best bet is to wax them regularly which stops the muck accumulating and sticking so much.

Anyone discovered those fake plastic Allen key heads dropping out (3R wheels)? First time I cleaned the car, one had gone: now two more have dropped out. The dealers tell me this had not been a problem before, but say they have now seen it on other cars. They did not have any replacements but they are now on order.
I have always been impressed with Wonder Wheels, but the handbook does not recommend wheel cleaning products. Water and detergent works fine at present, but what happens when the car is older and the wheel gets coated with specks of tar?
By the way I prefer the original alloy finish to black.

Interesting, not on mine - I didn't realise they were fake - don't they go all the way through 2 sections of wheel?!

No, the wheels are fake three piecers. The Allen heads are chrome effect plastic. When they drop out they leave a pit about 5mm deep.

Thanks DanH,

Spent 2 hours waxing the alloys today. Hopefully that will work.

Incidently, I tried that new Turtle Wax "Wet N Wax" I think it is, on the Focus today. Very very good. It is highly recommended by Autocar magazine. Car is gleaming!. You spray it on while the car has been hosed down after shampoo then use a shammy leather to rub it in.
