Horrible Shudder

Car drives fine; however, if I go into reverse and try to drive more than 1mph the whole back end shudders violently.

I have LSD and box has been done my them gearbox man. it was fine I'm sure this morning.

The only thing i can think is that I did have a couple of wheel spin moments in the wet on the way home but that should be fine?

Got garage to check car over when having the O2 sensor fitted and only thing he noticed was the CV gator had lost its clip. He at the moment has cable tied it?

Can anyone shed any light?

Hope its not box as I will then have to go through crap with gearbox man.

My paddle clutch shudders too wen reversing

Sounds a bit odd why would the clutch judder only in reverse? it's not like the clutch is doing anything different to when it's going forwards is it?
Sounds a bit like the pre-load on the diff is causing lock up of both wheels and the tyres are scrubbing causing the judder.

Mine has started doing the same Bondy. I now try to avoid going backwards, as I have to be really careful and feather the throttle to stop this juddering. When the exhaust bracket broke (again!) this juddering meant that the whole exhaust rattled too.
Very odd, never used to do it. Another odd thing that started after its service earlier this year.

I can tell you something it's not and that's the diff, if you have the same as mine M400., Then my diff was just obout to let go bearings where shot, but it never shuddered in reverse. Sounds like clutch to me.

Hi mate try getting the clutch all the way out so it's solid drive if the vibration is still there it's not the clutch .

Do you mean jack it up and do it that way. If that's ok could it be box or the other bits mentioned. I would prefer the bearing/engine mount problem best

I think tux means to find a long stretch of road to reverse up with the clutch fully out ( foot off pedal) that way if vibration is still present you know it's not the clutch flapping around while you're feathering it so to speak.

This morning there was no issue, by the time I got to work it was back. Another suggestion is the hand break shoes?

Sat in loads of traffic and car was fine going forward.

might be worth getting the rear of the car in the air and letting it run backwards by hand - then try it in gear at idle


if you roll it backwards down a hill in neutral is it ok ?

Just got home and tried it again, it still does it but once moving you get past it and can drive 10-15mph no problem?
