Play in steering rack

Can anything be done or is it a replace job? If replace what is it from, think Ford?

When my rack needed replacing I looked into buying one form a Scorpio and matched it to a few at my local motor factors, none were the same. So as noble want over £600 for a new one I sent it to a company in London for a full refurb and they couldn't tell me what it was off either. Just be carefull what you buy, if you need details of who can refurbish it I'll dig out the number.

The play can probably be fixed, try tightening the nut on the plastic handle for the telescopic. If not try tightening the other 4 nuts behind which hold the rack in place.

Are you sure it is the rack rather than in the steering column Rob?

Just going by what I was told by the guys doing the guys skimming the disks and doing the geo. Am arranging a second opinion.

Yes, that's my suspicion and confirmed as likely cause by the guy I am talking to after an HGV decided to try and share my lane a while ago resulting in a good kerbing, funny that the wheel survived OK even though they have such a bad reputation.

EAC in Barking - 020 8591 6790 they come recommended for refurbs and are usually a 1 day turnaround.

it cant have been kerbed that bad then.. ..they well deserve their reputation, i think geoff capes could tear them in half like he did with those yellow pages..
