I'm still waiting to hear if the factory are going to offer an upgrade for the above engines? Has anyone heard of the long awaited 'Track Pack' When I was wondering about upgrading to the 3L (from 2.5) I was told by the factory that the 3L was leagues ahead etc. not to mention the extra power, so I spent a wedge load of cash on changing the engine (none of which I will recover when I come to sell the car). We are now in a situation where 2.5's can be upgraded to nearly the same power as the 3L but there appears to be no upgrade for the 3L - I feel a bit robbed.

I have approached one or two 3rd parties and the consesus is that I could uprate the BHP to around 400 fairly easily without too much expensive work (changing cams or injectors etc.). So I recon I could have a similar car to an M400 for around 5K (this would include some suspension work as well as power) this is about 15K less than it would cost me to change to an M400. (I have already spent more than that currently on the 3L upgrade....

any thoughts?

As far as I'm aware the factory has no intention of offering a works upgrade although I do know of a 3R packing 437bhp so that could be a relatively economical route to go down.

I'm not sure it would make any sense for the factory to offer a performance pack for the standard 3 litre as this could cut into the market for potential M400 buyers, ie. those people who would be tempted to upgrade their current Noble to a new M400.

As an owner I know that if I was to be consumed by a moment of madness during a trip over the suspension bridge to Peter Smiths it would cost me greatly in the wallet department, particularly once my car is valued as part of the chop. I draw a distinction in what I think my car is generally worth to what I would be offered at a dealers..

I don't particularly want to sell my car, but as we all know - once you get used to performance you cannot help but want more (hence the desirability of he M400 ). However, if the factory offer a performance pack for the 3 litre engine at around 4 - 5 grand, well that would be interesting I think..

Fair play, mine is a GTO3, and I am not a particular fan of the front lights but if I was in a 3R I probably would apply the pack rather than upgrade to a M400, great car though it is. Although I suspect that for those Noble owners who regularly track, then the M400 swap is only a matter of time and none of the above applies..

Cheers, and looking forward to Millbrook on Sun!

Mike

When a 2.5 has had the upgrade then, on paper it has only a slightly less bhp figure, it's true. But if you were to drive an upgraded 2.5 & a 3ltr back to back I think you'll find they are still a world apart. The 3 has masses more torque and the wide spread of the extra ponies make it a different animal.(IMHO)

Who has a 3R with 437 BHP - who did the work?

I'd love to know about this too. If anyone has an 'Out of warrenty' car that wants more power, I can introduce you to a company (they have 2 rolling roads and a 6 ramp garage, they do 600bhp Imprezza's) that are just DYING to play with a Noble.

Martin - Sounds interesting!

I'll be at Millbrook on Sunday if you're there.

BTW Owen -Do you want me to confirm a post day meeting at the French Horn pub? If so i'll try and get them to reserve some parking.......

More air to the intercooler!

On that M400 race car thread people were pointing out what looked like supplementary scoops.

well done chaps, see my postings elsewhere. The cheapest way to up-power an M12 is to get air to flow over the intercooler. As is there is virtually no air flow at any speed over the thing.

Not worked out how to do it but I've ordered an air scoop that will fit like the Exige's roof top one to play with.......

Hhhmm, I've always wondered if the air moves much around there. Anyone got a windtunnel we can play with for an hour or so? Thought not.

Smoke bomb on a stick with 2 cars at Brunters it is then! I'm up for it.

Could you let me know how and where this car was modified?

Much appreciated.
