Stuck at Eurotunnel, nNortel pump :-(fuel

Checked the bulkhead fuse, pulled & replaced the relay above the pump, and still not pumping. Any other wise ideas for the AA man? (is there a separate fuse for the fuel pump upgrade wiring somewhere?)

Sorry to hear that Joust

Isn't one (or both?) of the rearwards 2 fuses in the bank of 4 down the o/s front of the engine bay (on the side frame) for the fuel pump feed from the ecu? They are 20a from memory.

My main pump fuse is in the drivers side wheel arch, mine had melted

Found the four in a row through driver's side wheel arch and they all fine. Guess it's the pump or relay then. Still, I have a spare 30A switched feed so he might be able to use that if not pump, if not off the Mole Valley and see if they can fix it.

Justin, when you turn on the ignition can you hear the fuelpump relay click ? Not easy on your own but if you have someone with you get them to turn on/off a few times.

as Kev says check if the relay is switching when you turn the ignition on....

There is another fuse on the wiring upgrade,will be inline on the wire from the starter to the relay, also pull out the relay and give a spray with wd40, i had this once and some water had got in the relay..i have repsoitioned relay since then..

on a side note when NM did my wiruing upgrade they used a 15amp and over time it melted, it needs to be 20a, but have a look for the wire coming from the starter and you should see the inline fuse holder

Relay or something further back. Hotwired from my own switched 30A intercooler fan wiring and it works.

Only thing is now it runs all tine ignition is on as not ECU controlled. Guess I just wait 3-4 seconds before starting and don't leave ignition on when not running????

Yes.

Have you tried swapping the relay from your IC circuit into the fuel pump circuit?

the fact that the pump works, tells you it must be the fuse of the relay, did you check the fuse or check to here if the relay is switching?
I recently had to replace the wiring loom from the ECU to the relay, it had burnt out..

this happened to mine a few months after i bought it... it would run fine if i bumped it but just wouldnt prime when you turned the key.

It was the ecu and I had to have MBE repair it.. basically there was no signal coming out of the ecu telling the pump to prime prior to start.. so it wouldnt start, was fine once it was running.

It primes in less than a second so yes just wait momentarily before starting it and obv don't leave the ignition on when the car is not running. It wont damage anything but will flatten your battery and may heat your fuel a bit if you do!!

I had this recently and it was the wire having burned the plug/connector near the relay bits. temporary re-connection got me home, then had wiring upgrade. seems to have worked.

a little trick that sometimes works is lift the plastic top off the relay and put an elastic band over the internal connection

relay is activated and you are off on your way
