Hi folks,

Just wanted to do a little poll, how many people with the 5 speed gearbox without the LSD have experienced problems???

I am currently still waiting to get my car back after the plant gears in the diff shearing into a million bits two days after buying the car!!!

On the same note...what other production car shares the same gearbox? I thought it was the same as the new Mini - but don't know.

If so, the addition of LSD as stock to the Mini line could be a source for future Noble upgrades.

My non LSd 5 speed box lasted 7,500 miles before the diff blew up - approx 50% of those were track miles and I had a new engine at 3,500 miles.

From what I gather the 5 speed box diff is very marginal if you want to use the performance this car offers.

The Noble's 5-speed box is Ford-derived and has no relationship with that fitted to the Mini.

Yup, I had a 5 speed gearbox blow up. It did it in the outside lane of the M5 whilst following heavy bank holiday motorway traffic in top gear. The car has never been anywhere near a track.

he is a genious with gearboxes and can transform a box to something much better than ford ever designed

interestingly - can the later 6 speed box be fitted ?

you could probably get a Quaife ATB to replace the std diff

The 6 speed can be fitted but its not a cheap upgrade. I guess given that the 5 is knackered (?) it might be worth the upgrade? The 6 comes with a nice Quaiffe LSD.
