Does anyone here know why the front number plate can't be positioned further into the center recess ?

I think it shows of the lines more if you haven't got the plate siting there like a big front tooth off the end of your bonnet.

The only reason I can think that this is not a good move would be loss of air flow into the center grill and lack of access to the front towing eye. But in the horrible event of needing the front eye, the plate could always be taken off.

Any comments would be gratefully accepted before I take the black and decker the front of the car !

I'm trying to tuck the plate out of the way, not put it on show.

But thanks for the suggestion

I've just done some measuring. I think it's going to cause cooling problems much lower. I wonder if a square one would look ok? My EVO6 had one and it was fine. Right, I'm off to get a bit of card to have a look!

Cheers

AFAIK The car suffered from cooling problems, whereby air was not flowing through the radiator as easily as it could do.

Right, most people remove their front plate for on-track activities as it sits right where the air is needed to go. The only workable option would be a stick-on plate but, unfortunately, this is not legal.

This is a bit cheeky but...

From the DLVA site :-

Display of Vehicle Registration Marks on Imported Vehicles
(which have a restricted space for a standard sized number plate)
Certain imported vehicles may be permitted to display number plates with smaller characters if:

The vehicle does not have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval

AND

The vehicle's construction/design cannot accomodate standard size number plates

Wonder if Nobles have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval? Allows the characters to go from 79mm down to 64mm high. Saves some space.

Yep, track day data from 2001, Donnington, normal medium temp day, front plate removed lowered running temp by a clear 10'c.
Go sticky on the front and I'm now sticky on the rear as well.

All the time? DVLA site doesn't think there's a legal stick on plate available.

Yes, but the police dont' seem to care much.

Other option is run with no front plate, and put it behind the seat. Its only a 30 quid fine and producer if you meet an arsey copper who takes exception, but you would be unlucky to be stopped for it anyway. Just tell them it came off on a speedbump and you are going home to remount it.
