Getting a tad ahead of myself, but I really fancy a fold out sat nav screen as that would remove one of the things I find stressful about driving - navigation.

Has anyone managed to fit one? I've got a horrible feeling that the dash design is going to block a screen folding out due to the huge overhang. Anyone know otherwise?

p.s. What is it with these overhangs? Lotus put them in the Elise too, and its really annoying.

I had a kenwood fold-out screen in my truck. I didn't take it over to the Noble because the dash overhang was too big for it to open. I doubt any of the ones that come out and then hinge directly up from the bottom of the screen will fit. You might have a chance if you can find one that has a hinge in the middle of the screen.

Cant see the point in a fold out unit for navigation, especially in a Noble where the unit is so far out of your line of vision. I have a Pioneer ANH P9R single din unit and it works absolutely fine (after fitting a speed pulse generator), never looking at the screen, just following the verbal instructions

Agreed, I use a PDA with tomtom for nav now. Haven't had it long, but so far so good!

Could resort to a single din unit, but the user interfaces aren't nearly as nice. Was just wondering if someone had made up a custom dash insert to move the din slot closer and forwards of the overhang. Might annoy the passenger though =/

I use a PDA with Tom Tom nav. system and it is brilliant, and you can take it from car to car. You get and very comprehensive fitting kit so if you want to hard wire to your car all the bits are there. Try www.totalpda.co.uk they are very helpful in discussing your needs.

Yup, I'd vote for Tomtom V3 as well. Don't like the way TotalPDA quote everything Ex VAT though. Makes them look cheap. They're ok prices.

I don't like the PDA systems much because they don't have the gyros for good dead reckoning. Also they don't integrate and mute the stereo etc. I have enough things to unplug everytime I park up as it is

The M400 comes with a strange moulding that moves the head unit about 1.5 inches out - guessing its because of the revised steering lock and footwell. Don't know if its quite enough clearance, but seeing as its just the little bit of plastic that is screwed in under the main dash, it'd be a cheap solution!

Hmm that might be enough, or perhaps make a good base for something else underneath, but with the properly finished molding on top.

Will try to remember to look at the m400 properly tomorrow.

Thanks,

Dan

PDA. I work in Leeds, if you would like to test mine in your Noble, you are welcome if you are in the area.
