Hi All,

Just become proud owner of a shiny Azure blue Noble. The only slightly annoying aspect is that it has a Sony 10 disc autochanger & steering column controls but has at some point had the head unit taken out. What's in now doesn't connect up to either.

I rang Noble but they weren't able to tell me what Sony model was being installed in Jan 02, anyone know by any chance please? Or do I have to go to Halfords......

I'd have thought any modern sony unit would use the same bus adaptor, Alpine have AI-Net, Pioneer have IPBUS, sony must have an equivalent?

I'm pretty sure the 2.5 litle head unit (the Sony 680 from memory) has been discontinued, but the rest of the kit should be compatible with most other Sony bits.

Go to a professional car audio shop (but NOT Halfords) and they will be able to tell you what is compatible with what.

The original M12 GTO had a CDX M630 as a factory fit and I think it was still used in the GTO3. Not sure if it was used in the 3R's though. Still that's not to say that the original owner of this 2.5 had something else installed, but like Owen said, I think Sony's use a 'standard' interface, so any Sony should do.

Ta for that, will try and seek out decent audio place in N.Yorks

Whilst I'm on, am needing 2 new front tyres shortly, quick websearch seems to price them around £150ish each inc VAT, the cars booked in for service in Sept at the factory, best to leave it for them to do?

The remote control on my sony used to have a bespoke socket on the back of the unit, it didn't have a bus type system. Worst case get a new sony head with a remote commander interface, and you can always replace the old commander with a new one which will cover up the holes etc!

Was a CDX-M680 in my 3R. Took 5 mins to pull out and shove a nice CDX-M9900 in. DO NOT got to a car hifi shop to by this unit. Most 'specialists' wanted between £449 and £550 for it. Search and you can get it for £369 or less.

Yes, the Sony CD-Changer bus is standard across all but one really expensive/odd unit.
