The front Turbo has started smoking, I can tell it's front because I have a twin exhaust system.

Really gutting as I have just done the remap. Do I just put a new one on or upgrade?? Pros and Cons.

If I go to T28 then I'll need to have remap again... :-(((

Cheapest option would be to get a re-furb at universal turbos.

Can you get them off the shelf? I'm tempted to go new, any ideas on the best place to buy them. I go to the states a lot, are they cheaper there?

If you get the turbo refurbed at universal it will come back to you looking like and performing like new for 1/4 of new price. Don't waste money on a new one. Give universal a call.

Out of interest, If I was to have them built up to T28 spec....What are the bigger injectors? Where would I get them?

makes sense to go for the bigger ones

however have you had the valve springs done etc ? will the clutch take the extra power ?

valve springs are not essential, the power comes in faster without and the engine will just reach map bhp slightly earlier in the rev range, tried and tested smile
clutch is the limiting factor, but 1 bar should produce 420lb/ft torque and 480bhp, when linkled to bosch 044, cam timing and exhaust.

I've had helix clutch, and valve springs. Quaife diff in the 5-speed box... It's just I'm starting to lean towards reliability now. After a year off the road, and only a week back on it, I might stick with lower power..... I really just want to drive it now! ;-)

The T25 turbo spools up really quickly too. Are T28 noticeably more laggy?

The extra cost of going t28 is much more if you start to look at the other things you would need, as you say it's been off the road for a while, spend £250ish on a refurb and be back on the road in a week.

Does it go away after <1min? You could always ignore it if it does until it gets "bad"?

It's really bad.... Was just on start up. At one point I thought 'I'd gone on fire' :-)

Turbo is out, I'm covered in water/oil and cr@p. There's loads of play in the bearing...

I've been quoted £325-425 per turbo , depending on damage. I'm guessing front will be 400 ish, back. Hopefully nearer 325. So more like 750.

Does anyone know if the car would run better, or worse if I fitted the bigger injectors ? (might fit them whilst Turbos are out, if I can get some)

T28 with bigger injectors should make 500 ish , upgrading injectors with the T25 will depend on the duty cycle , can you remember what it was set at when yellowshed mapped ?

Yes the T28 are more laggy than the T25 .

gadge have a look at my post from last week showing the comparison between dyno runs with T28 and GT28rs turbos.

The gt28rs spool up to full boost (higher pressure) than the T28's about 650rpm faster.
