As there appears to be no Noble summer gathering does anyone fancy joining me for an Easytrack track day at Goodwood on Saturday 24 July 2004. Cost is a reasonable £199, especially as its a Saturday!

Come on and lets' see those M400's out there!

Rob,
If I've got my car I'll try to make it, but not sure when it's arriving now. Martin.

Won't have mine run in or serviced by then, but if it's a nice day I might drive down to say hello - got to put those 1000 miles on somehow!!

My wife thinks we've got other plans that weekend though...

If I get mine by then I shall pop down and say hello. Won't be on track though as I'll have to run mine in too.

Sorry - no can do - I'll be on a big ship heading out of Southampton on that day.

Looks like it's sessioned rather than open-pit though - BOOOOOOooooo!!!

Goodwood is a bit too far for a track day, especially when the track has gravel traps and tyre walls to go into - Sods Law dictates that I would end up stuffing it and sitting on a transporter for 17 hours... Have fun though!

Would love to come and give R101 its inaugural track outing, but will be on my Summer hols. Let me know if you are planning another track day - it would be good to do a track day with a few other Nobles around.

I'll be there with Simon in his Ultima but I think we'll be spectating only. Is it OK just to spectate, Rob? Martin.

You've got your wing, but do you still need the prayer? :

...that race-prepared, turbo-ed, Saxo whippersnapper was quick in the bends but, needless to say, way off in the rear distance on the straights!

BTW a note on Goodwood and noise for 3R owners:
I only just scraped in with 98dB!

How did you like the track? I did Goodwood in my Griff on Thursday.
I loved Lavant Corner (the double apex about 3/4 round the circuit). Tyre screeching corner and then the long windy straight to power into straight after.

Must have been a good track for the Noble. The Griff certainly enjoyed it, its still grinning now!

Wish I had seen this early, I only live down the road and could have popped in to say hello.

Yes,a great track - 2.4 miles and almost ran out of fuel in the afternoon, but found Optimax 15 mins away!

Martin (V6 GTO) arrived with his mate Simon in Simon's monster Ultima and parked up next to me - needless to say, we had much of the "visitor traffic" and it was good to discuss the fact that here we were displaying Lee Noble's earlier and current offerings - when parked next to each other the similarities were clear!

Reliability report:

Temp:
Never went above normal!

Oil:
Virtually nothing used!

Gearchange:
Found the 4-5 cross-gate change somewhat cumbersome! And this circuit needs 6th.

Brakes:
Excellent and very reassuring - they seemed to bite better as time went on. PS - I have the solid pipe mod.

Tyres:
Plenty of rubber melted onto the bodywork!

On the straights:
Upper range acceleration really showed - it wasn't difficult to create a huge gap with most cars that were on your tail at the last corner!

Wing on/off comparisons:
Can't report on this as couldn't be bothered to take it off as planned!

Rob,

My trackday experiences similar - car now great but frustrating stiffness in gearchange when car gets up to trackday temperatures - never at road speeds. Agree particularly bad on up changes 4th to 5th - so much so that I'm losing time in the changes.

I've had gear linkage adjusted and clutch fluid uprtated. Any other suggestions?

Brian.

Brian,

Yep, wait for the next generation 3R with the revised gearchange - as fitted to the the GTC! ;-(

Seriously though, I've also had the linkages adjusted and checked twice and all are "OK" so can't see what else to do myself - factory?!
