Guys,

Seem to remember a topic on this before but very occasionally when I down shift approaching a roundabout or a junction I get a real funny whooshing / whistling noise ( scuse the technical termenology!!) that seems to come from below the car.

It doesn't happen all the time but it occurs once or twice per drive usually 10-15 mins after starting.

Any input would be apreciated.

There is a noise that seems to happen under engine breaking. E.g. if you change down from around 3k RPM without your foot on the brake to slow the car, you (or I do anyway) get a very peculiar noise.

I'm told that it's "normal", but it sounds mechanicaly painful so I've adopted a habit of changing down late...

I've had some similarly strange noises from mine on the downchange but only once or twice. One I remember particularly was selecting third instead of fifth. Boy did that wake me up!!

Sounds like it is 'normal' then.

Thanks guys,

I did remember a thread like this before but couldn't remember the technicalities. At least I am not the only one to feel this!.

Cheers,

Jaz

Seemed to have narrowed it down to when the car is just getting warmed up. i.e the first few miles.
