Has anyone configured a car without a rear wing? Seems like the car may look pretty good without it. Any thoughts on what the car looks like without it and if the car needs it for performance reasons? Also, is the wing easily removable if a person would like to move it off for street driving and back on for track driving?

Rich (got your email as well)

To take the wing off is a very simple 5 minute job. Just open the rear clam and you will see the four bolts that hold it on. Mole Valley provided me with plugs that fitted into the holes left on the clam.

It makes no difference whatsoever to the handling for road use. You will find a difference (on track) in hard high speed braking as the rear end is a little more skittish. Cornering near the limit is also slightly affected, but again not too bad.

I managed an extra 5 mph top speed at Bruntingthorpe last October. This was been backed up by Guysh at Bruntingthorpe again on Sunday this week. He was hitting 160 consistantly wing on, then 165 wingless.

Asthetics are a personal thing. I like the look of the car both with, and without the wing.

Without the wing you'll probably get slightly better fuel economy and also accelerate a smidge quicker.

Great, thanks for all the help. So does the car look acceptable with the holes when the wing is off. I guess I may have the option of having my car built without a wing at all (if it is not too late) but I think I would prefer the option of putting the wing on for track days as long as the plugged holes are not too bad when it is off.

I plugged the holes with grey wall studs that matche the body colour. Best to have the holes pre-drilled as you never know when you might want to go wing-ed!

Not to mention that its probably an expensive bit of carbon fibre, so you don't want to pay for it and not get it!

Thanks, sounds good. I think I will have the wing in case I need it. Not sure what wall studs are exactly or where to get them. Any pictures?
