I am sure it is mighty scary going round at those speeds, but you can imagine getting used to it pretty quickly. And gear changes are so easy and the car is so smooth.
Having had the pleasure of quite a few hours of L's time, apparently you never "get used to it", you just "deal with it" it seems. He was quite animated that the skill of F1 drivers is more about the sense rather than the reality.
