Todays GT Championship report:
Discussion
Michael Caine’s famous line “you were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off” sprung to mind when Fanny came in from the first practice session minus her passenger door! Unfortunately, during an otherwise rain-free day, the heavens decided to open right at the time of the GT race first practice session, so an unforgiving wet track ensued leaving one or two casualties! This left a doorless car with a cracked windscreen (see photos).
Charles from Mole Valley became white van man for the afternoon delivering a replacement front screen which, sadly arrived just seconds too late for fitting (5.10 and 20 seconds) – soooo, Fanny went out sans windscreen – but with a nicely gaffer-taped up door (minus window!) – the team worked furiously to piece the car together by the 5.10pm race time. Both Fanny, and later Simon, managed to get in some decent times (1.13-ish), at one point making up 5 places from the back - despite the huge drag that the holes in the cabin made but alas, the Law-of-Sod God reared his head again locking the transmission into third! Finally, sod-man visited the team one last time, shredding the rear nearside tyre - it was smokin’!

So there ya go – I’m sure the team has seen better days - and will again!

Interesting chatting to Martin Short before Sunday's race. Lee Noble is taking a lot of what they learn from the race car and is feeding it back into the road car development. Good to see such a direct relationship between road and track.
Can I have my gaffer tape in Crystal Topaz please
Cheers
Ian.
Yep - I was there. Travelled down from Northampton for both Sat and Sun, and well worth it.
I was amazed at how hard those guys and gals at Rollcentre worked to get the car back out for the first race. I thought there was no chance, looking at the damage caused by the marshals post jumping out in front of Fanny.
They managed it though, and they deserve a lot of credit for presenting the car on the grid at all.
