Hello mate, it's time to do it, winter has arrived and it's time to upgrade the gearbox in my M12 2.5 (almost all original)
I installed yet original MTX75 5 speed without LSD, for now it works ... for now!

I wanted to prepare a spare gearbox in cases of necessity do you advise me?

I take an another mtx75???? prepared with LSD, metal bearing and shot peened inside (what ford motor has the most appropriate gear ratios for the Noble?) Duratec Bell housing must be true?
I buy a MMT6???? I should change the starter, clutch and what else? axle shafts? What internal changes do I need to adapt to Noble power? Which motor should I pick it?

Thankyou!!! Sorry for my rookie english.

lots to change if you change to the 6 speed...

starter
clutch
slave
gearchange stick
cables
engine mounts

your drive shafts stay the same, but the other parts add up a lot.

having done this upgrade (5 speed to 6 speed) I recomend you do not do it unless you are planning 500bhp... if you do decide to go this route I might be persuaded to sell you the spare 6 speed clutch, slave and starter that i have... but id personally not bother if i were you.

The upgrades you mention to your 5 speed should see it reliable at std power and have potential to go above 450bhp if you so choose (with upgraded clutch).

Go to the Wiki or the noble parts website as this will tell you the gearbox number you need to buy. From memory I think its final drive 3.89 ratio?

There are two gearbox numbers you can use. Upgrade clutch and get cooling work done on the box (I did but not using it yet, but at least its there for another day). Change slave cylinder also.

For now thanks very much. Now I collect some ideas.

Now I try to find the ETK FORD and a tutorial to preload bearings.

You also need to modify the fuel tank but that can be done with a moderate sized hammer. I contemplated the upgrade but decided against it and in fact, a few guys in the states have gone the other way as the 5 SPD ratios are more suitable for the track. The one benefit of the 6 SPD is that there are more of them available if it goes bang whereas the 5 spd's are like rocking horse st.

actually you dont 'HAVE' to modify the fuel tank at all... there are 2 starters for the 6 speed, 1 fits no issues... the other is too large (solonoid) and hits the fuel tank.

the 5 speed starter physically fits the 6 speed box but wont fit the car due to the solonoid possition.....
so IMO its just a case of getting the correct starter rather than getting a hammer out! smile

edited to add that having had both the 5 speed and 6 speed in my car I think the 6 speed is better suited to my car but of cause my engine revs to 8k and makes power to redline unlike a std noble that runs out at 6.5k.

As I said unless you want loads of power or a better gearchange there is no point upgrading at all, its a very expensive/extensive mod and youd be better putting the cash to other areas of the car to get a better gain IMHO

Mate what do you think about final gear ratio 3.41:1(1.8 saloon)? Too long?

Torsen LSD are too small than quaife???
