This month's issue of 'Automobile' magazine was waiting for me on my return from Le Mans, complete with a brief, positive, review of the M12 as part of a track car specials article. I noticed the rear lights are of a different design to those I have seen on UK models, what vehicle are they from?

The turn signal is NOT red. Those are Hundai Sedan (Sonata ?) lights. The parts of them are:

Upper, outer is the red brake light
Upper, Inner is the red running light
Lower outer is the turn signal that is orange/yellow though the lense is clear
Lower inner is the reverse light.

I don't know why they aren't fitted to the UK versions. US versions definately look better.

... so orange/yellow turn signals are allowed in the US now (didn't used to be the case)?

Yes. Since about 1984 or so. The way the law is written, even the rear running lights may be orange!

Anyway, I don't know why the UK gets one set of lights while the US gets another. It may be that the lights received type approval in the country. AFAIK Hundai does not sell the Sonata in the UK, and the Sierra (they are Sierra lights, right?) isn't sold in the US.

The UK M12's use lights from a Mondeo (mk1?) which was sold in the US as the Contour with the major difference being the different rear styling. There is a version of the Hyundai Sonata sold here, but I think it is different again to the one pictured above, although I'm not an expert spotter of Korean motors.

Hi. Ive just bought a 3R and wondered how the rear light clusters come off. Are they a simple screw fitment?
