Hi guys
Been for a drive this morning about 80 miles and on my way back i could hear a constant buzzing noise from the fuel pump which it has never done .
It's a 3R standard fuel pump ,( it does have the wiring to the fuel pump upgrade )
This morning i did add about 20 litres of Vpower to an existing say half tank of BP ultimate 97 , I don't know if this has anything to do with it ?
Does anyone know what the cause is ? and is it still safe to carry on driving it before something goes wrong ? .
Thanks for any help
Stefano

Hi Simon
very hot today , if it wasn't for the air con i would have boiled to death in there !!!
Yes it buzzes at idling , that's when you can hear it most .
The only other time you can hear it is when it primes but otherwise it was dead quiet .
? I wonder if it's on it's way out or was it just the heat ? Does it matter what octane you use .

Mine make a hell of a racket. In fact I worry when I cant hear it as it usually means it is going to cut out at the fuse.
Off to Jetstream on Saturday for a new 400 one.
Oh and octane wont make any difference to the pump, only happenm if there is a load of crap in the tank, ie solid matter, and that is fouling it.

update ...switched on engine and let it run for a while and no noise from fuel pump . will try and give it a run this weekend . It was extrememly hot last sunday and it happened as i was driving back into town after a long run . Fuel filter was changed at last service by jetstream in june but if it does it again then will have to check it . Was also told that in very hot weather sometimes the pipe can collapse and reduce fuel flow causing the pump to work harder .

Spot on - and not just in hot weather. But just because the filter has recently been replaced doesn't mean that nasties can't make their way into your tank 5 minutes later

yeah i see what you mean, maybe some bad fuel ... so could be stuff blocking the fuel filter .... is the filter easy to get to ?

Yes very easy, just remove the near side stone guard located in front of the rear wheel and the filter will be staring you in the face. The harder part is draining the tank so you don't waste gallons of precious fuel!yeah i see what you mean, maybe some bad fuel ... so could be stuff blocking the fuel filter .... is the filter easy to get to ?
If you suspect the delivery hose may be causing your problem, now would be a good time to replace it also.
