Replacement floor, help please. :o

Was just having a first look at the floor this evening with the plan to remove, clean up the chassis and refit. However it looks like I will not be able to refit the main floor under the cabin as there is a sizeable hole in it (about the size of a 10p).

Has anyone had a new floor made up or got a spare floor for the main cabin?

Not looking forward to what I'm going to find under there once I get the floor off.

Looks like I might need a new floor for the section under the engine as there is quite a bit of corrosion on there too.

Just buy a sheet a sheet of the same gauge ally and cut yourself another using your old one as a template...

Mine had a few wholes in it when I took mine apart. Chemical metal is your friend. Still going good :-)

Do you know what gauge ally it should be? Mine is probably a fair bit thinner than it should be.

I am getting one made up at the moment, in 3 pieces so the centre tunnel can be accessed without taking the whole floor off. Not sure where your are based, but happy to get another one made up.
Also I have had several engine undertray made in thicker ally so mo need for so many screws.

just get a plate and rivet it over the hole - simple

you might want to consider a stainless steel replacement

I had my entire floor replaced. We used a local sheet fabricator to exactly copy the original and cnc cut a new version using a better grade and slightly thicker stock.

Isn't stainless steel going to weigh quite a bit more?

I figure I will be replacing the floor rather than repairing it. If it has failed in one place already then chances are it will fail in a few other places as well.

stainless is stronger and can be made thinner

I Sand blasted my old floor panels, welded up a few holes and had a fair few, grinded smooth, then payed £100 to have all panels powder coated gloss black. Looks great, sealed, will last years longer than new uncoated panels would.

Dumb question but if you use new sheet do you use the old as a template to get the rivet hole positions? Did this when I replaced the difuser and it was a fiddly process.

Why would you say that? I suppose it would be subjected to a lot of impacts from debris which would weaken the resin coating?
