it looks like there may be an engine that is compatible with our gearbox
3.4 l V8 produced by ford

probably easier to tune the 3.0 v6 - but could be an interesting product

it has exactly the same bellhousing so our box should fit a treat
its going to be well over 100mm longer... and the suspension points on the drivers side are around 10mm away from the engine so the engine would never fit traverse... thus it doesnt matter that it fits the box the combination would never go in!if i was slotting in a V8 it would be an audi one with twin turbos as i know i could get that in traverse and its light

You want a V8? How about one of these....

They also do a twin turbo version. THese engines have been mated to the 6 spedd boxes. In fact one was put in the back of a Arial Atom long before Arial did it!
Oh they are also lighter and smaller than the V6 (they make a Zetec look big).
Just dont consentrate to much on the price.....

Andy do you mean the V8 in the RS6 ?
do you think it could be fitted to our gearbox / chassis
interesting idea the lotus/Audi hybrid is a real winner
I think he means the one that sits in the R8 , I looked at the idea and it would work, with gearbox mounted inline and paddle shift, just need to add 8 inch to the rear chassis and u huge amount of mounting problems.do you think it could be fitted to our gearbox / chassis

If anyone fancys the idea, I know of a R8 write off, all front damage, engine only done 18 k .
Would love to see someone take it on

hard to not concentrate on the price chris... and in truth I think a twin turbo audi V8 would be just as effective and significantly cheaper... after all our cars weigh between 1100 and 1200kgs!
Hmmm how about the Audi V8 matted to the ford box? I hear these Audi V8s are VERY short. Think crafty posted a link in the Ultima section. They mount the chain drive at the rear of them engine to help with length. Add a nice single turbo and bingo big power!
Think the RS6 guys are pushing over 800bhp out of them on stock internals!slipstream 1985 said:

I'd quite fancy an R32 engine or the 5cyl from the Focus RS, but they'd probably both be too long. I'd just like a better noise really!
are you serious!Audi V8 with one of the new gearboxes, solves a lot of problems!

Makes the front face to driveshaft line super short.
