Had to go to Fort William last weekend for the Mountain Bike World Cup Races where our SCOTT Team where racing Downhill, Cross Country and 4 – Cross. So a tough decision as to which car to take ? Renault Grand Espace V6 or Noble GTO 3R ?

No contest, the Espace stays at home. Pack light for the weekend, pick up my son, and off we go.

Route from Newcastle upon Tyne, via A697 Coldstream, around Edinburgh, M90 to Stirling, A84 via Callander, A85 then 82 past Glen Coe to Fort William. Stayed at Latter Finlay on Loch Lochy.

Dry roads, spectacular scenery, caravan queues disposed of with ease, and heads turn looking at the car everywhere. Kids give the thumbs up and wave, slower cars indicate left and pull over to let you pass and motor bikes wave you by.

Return home via Spean Bridge and Loch Laggan where they filmed Monarch of the Glen, across to the A9. Down past Perth, around Edinburgh, A68 Jedburgh back to Newcastle. Return leg on one tank of petrol approx 21mpg in 4 hours 15 mins driving time.

Great weekend trip on some superb roads, in the most rewarding car I have ever driven. (And I’ve driven a few)

I believe Justin and Anthony have done similar Scottish trips……anyone else?

I must admit I havn't ventured up to good ol' Fort Bill yet, either in a Noble or any other motor! Although I should do! I paint the lids for a few of the guy's racing such as Scotty B' Will Longdon and Tracy Mo etc... I'm always getting my butt kicked for not making the effort!! Maybe next year and maybe in a 3R if my luck holds out!!!

So is it going to be the three peaks then with the Noble as carriage?
