Thinking of getting the pro-alloy coolant expansion tank and oil breather. Can an amateur like myself fit them easy enough ?

I bought both of the above and also the Pro Alloy IC and hard pipe kit.

I fitted them all myself with no problems.

1 Allan key, 1 10mm spanner and a Phillips screwdriver are all the tools you need to fit the expansion tank and the oil breather tank.

I got my car re-mapped by Yellowshed after I fitted the IC.

It is a straight swap job.

I suppose what I should have asked was whether I need to take anything into account when replacing both items, i.e. replacement coolant OR coming from a novice does the oil breather currently contain any oil or simply only when under pressure.

You could siphon the coolant out of the header tank before you start?

As far as the oil breather, just be sure that the vent pipe that exits under the car and the existing drain to the sump aren't touching the driveshaft when you're finished.

Breather may contain a small amount of oil so have a rag handy. You will need to partially drain your cooling system before doing the header tank. If you haven't already ordered the parts I think it's worth paying a little extra for the level glass.

I have fitted both to mine, and yes its a piece of cake. The coolant in the header you need to drain into a measuring jug, or similar. Once you have connected the hose onto the bottom (as you remove your thumb ) and reconnect the return, you then pour the coolant back into the header and top up. The oil catch tank is very easy, once you understand that you need to blank off one of the pipes (blank supplied) the breather pipe then drops down and vents (drips onto your nice clean garage floor) out the bottom of the car, just cut to the correct length so you can't see pipe sticking down too far. hope this helps. As long as you can drive a drill and a screw driver, you'll have no trouble. HTH
