Does anyone know what the M12 paint technique is - ie: is it the ususal "two-pack", ie: a colour base-coat covered in clear laquer?
I'll explain the issue once I hear back! ;-(
Two pack isn't as you describe, two pack paints dry/cure by a chemical reaction after adding a hardener, think of them as the epoxy resin of paint, you have a colour and a hardener. Most contain isocyanate so you need external breathing gear to spray them safely.
Due to health and safety most paints used on vehicles these days are water based. Not as hardy as two pack but a lot safer to spray.
I don't know for sure but I'd take an educated guess that Noble's are painted with water based paint ala 99% of all cars in the last 10 years. Prime - Colour - Laquer is the usual way.

OK, so last weekend I got to giving mine its first waxing - I noticed that the laquer coating is inconsistently applied - in some areas there is the expected amount of laquer, in some there is too little and in some there is none at all!!!
I feel that the unprotected areas will deteriaorate quickly - unless this is normal (which I seriously doubt?!) it will need sorting!

Excuse my ignorance, but how can you tell that the laquer is uneven? The paint on mine looks pretty good.
Marlon, when I polish off the wax I can feel roughness over the unlaquered areas - on the laquered areas it is glassy smooth!

It may just need a mild polishing compound or clay bar treatment to smooth those areas. Modern automotive color coats have a flat finish; it's the clear coat that makes the paint glossy. The way the stuff is sprayed on, it would be very difficult to miss areas entirely, plus those areas would look very dull in appearance.

Thanks, makes sense - will try some mild compound!
First of all, shame on you for not waxing your baby till it's 16 weeks old. Mine was done at about 16hrs old and then every 2 weeks since.
Seriously though, I doubt there is any lacquer missing, possibly some overspray on the car from being near something that was being sprayed.
Best/easiest method to put things right is to mix something like T Cut with your wax and apply together.
Do one section at a time and buff off before it has completely dried.
Best not done on too sunny a day. Happy polishing.
Dave.

My guess is that after 16 weeks the normal toll of tree sap etc has affected some areas.
Get a clay bar and gentle rubbing compound on it and it's come up super smooth.
Swissol, Zymol etc. all do them.

Justin, thanks but unlikely to be tree sap and its hardly outside much. also, is washed after almost every run(only 2300 miles so far!).
BTW, what's a clay bar?!

Swissol products look great, especially the wax but at those prices I expect them to send a man to apply it as well. Might give it a try though if the new stuff I've just bought does'nt last as long as promised.
Exactly my thoughts - 26 £squids for the product Justin suggests - but I suppose not a lot for a £56K car?!
Rob - try
