I need your help!

Hi All,
I desperately need some advice on purchasing a used 3R.
On venturing to the motorshow earlier this week I stumbled across the lovely 3R which sat proudly smiling and I'm sure I could see my name in a faint reflection of strip lights or was that finger prints!!
I think I can say I'm truly sucked in and I'm trying desperately to offload my current weapon of choice for my first crack at Nobleism!
On reading many of your posts it seems that you all seem to have a vast array of differing experiences as well as some similar ones too! Do any of you have any helpful advice and guidelines to stick to when sourcing a used 3R?
I've been advised to watch out for paint stresses, signs of leaks etc...
Is there any great dissadvantage in purchasing a used one privately or would you strongly reccommend dealers. Also do you guy's have any advice or reccommendations for extending the warranty?
I aim to have one on the driveway this summer and I'm looking at parting with £45k-£47k. Does that seem realistic??
Well I hope to hear from you guy's soon and any helpful advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Happy driving peeps and enjoy the summer!!

Riccardo, others here will be able to offer advice on what to look for - I'm just off out to Goodwood in mine so don't have time right now!!!
The good news is that you can just about have a new/or vey low mileage M12 3R for your specified budget - just check the clasified section of this site - a bloody bargain!!!

Riccardo,
It would seem that there are no reoccouring problems, if there there is one Noble fix it and it goes away. While it's true to say that there have been problems, there is 'NO COMPANY IN THE WORLD' that listens and acts like Noble. Where else can you drop in at the factory without an appointment and end up chatting with the Top man? What company has active interaction with customers/window shoppers on a forum like this. They released the M400, we commented on the bits we didn't like and 'Hey Presto' it was changed for the NEC show.
While Noble ownership is very different, it is never boring and I feel sure that if you listen to the owners you will buy one, and never regret it!
'Just Do It!, Martin.

Thanks Martin. Thats put my mind at ease I must admit! I've been a BMW man for the last 4 years and although the aftersales could be better I have been pretty pleased. I think it gets to a point though where you need to break out of 'corporate' motoring and actually experience something which pushes the realms of quality performance motoring a little more!
Thanks again.
Riccardo,
I sold my 3R recently with 7000 miles on the clock. Apart from having more stone chips on the front than a new one (and you'll get chips within 100 miles anyway) it was no better or worse than any other. In fact it had a 3-year extended warranty from Warranty Holdings, which is more than you get from Noble themselves.
IMO it's a buyers market for 3R's right now, as many are trading to the M400 or GTC for the summer. In your position, I'd contact all those private sellers in the PH classifieds and tell them the best deal get's your money!
As Martin (V6GTO) said, there have been a few issues and the factory sort them out very well. Just make sure when you buy the car, that you book it into the factory to have all the latest mod's carried out. That way you avoid any of the issues you may have been reading about.

Got a Jag XKR then had a a few modifications done.
Clarkson, Hammond and Co liked it on TG last night, but it's certainly no Noble!
Still wanting to come to Brunters with me now?
Pipe and slippers on standby
Thought it would be a good few years yet before you were in a Jag - even an XKR! Why the change?

Cheers mate thats great! I hear what your saying about getting the latest mods carried out. I have been advised to do that before. Sounds like a more than worthwhile trip! The extended warranty is something which does concern me too. I must admit that I can't bring myself to own a car without warranty! It's sods law that as soon as sit in it something terminal will rear it's ugly head!!
I noticed straight away that it does seem there's an awful lot of people out there changing their R's for the 400. Can't say as though I blame the experienced few with performance figures like that!!
Do you know roughly how much the warranty extension costs? Also what would you say the average running costs are for a year excluding petrol and insurance?
Cheers,
Rich

...so negotiate a 12 month warranty with the seller - even private sellers can sort this! Pay the factory to inspect it first too.

Hi Riccardo
I have a brand new undriven 3R in a dealers showroom, which is advertised in the classifieds under best priced new 3R.If you are interested please email me .
The car has not been registered either so you would the the first keeper.
Cheers
James
Hi James,
Yep, my dad saw it on the site yesterday and told me to go take a look! Sounds a bloody awesome deal albeit it a bit out of my league really. I'm just beginning to find my feet in the big wide world and £45k is about all I can muster at the moment. However thanks for the offer mate. If I strike gold within the next few days I'll be giving you a call!!!!
I'm sure you'll have no bother in selling her at that price! I see your selling due to new business. What exactly are you involved with if you don't mind me asking? The exact is the same for me really. I've had my own business since I left school. I know what it's like to make a few sacrifices along the way!!!
All the best,
Rich.

Really! I did think 'why are people standing to lose so much so soon for a car that looks oh so similar?' I just put it down to the lucky few that have spare cash in abundance!! Good idea about the warranty issue! Its costs me £510 for a 12 month extension on my ZM roadster at the moment, so I'm hoping it's going to be a bit lower than that! One thing that does worry me about buying private is that 'no track use' quote which seems all too common!! From a dealer I guess your covered. Also, how much is it to get it checked out by Noble?

riccardo said:1000 mile service was free. I had an additional service at 3000 miles after a couple of trackdays, this included upgrading the brake fluid and was around £350. The last 6000 mile service was at the factory and cost around £500, including all the modifications and sorting out a number of minor niggles.
Also what would you say the average running costs are for a year excluding petrol and insurance?

That doesn't sound too bad really. I only cover around 8000k a year at the very most and wouldn't be looking to take it out on a track excursion at any point! What upgrades would you recommend?
