Following from recent armourfend threads.

The Armourfend on my 3R isn't actually armourfend, but something similar from a company who I won't name. Either way, it may not matter but I wouldn't want a rep from Armourfend to jump on me!

It would appear that a 'blade' is involved in the application process. It would also appear that in the case of my 3R the blade was wielded less than ideally, to the tune that it sliced an arc through the paint where the bonnet joins the wing.

This accident went un-noticed for several months, but recently it has become VERY apparent. Water has permeated under the paint and under the 'armourfend'. The paint is rapidly falling away from the car, and the clear plastic covering is a very large burst blister. There are other minor niggles with the 'fend, notably air bubbles, creases and peeling at the edge.

Just taken it to my dealers approved body shop for their opinion, which is to remove all the film from the front clam and completely respray.

Again, note that the stuff WAS NOT applied by Armourfend - it was a different company (as used by my dealer at the time, I believe thay have now changed supplier) and possibly a different product - but the warning is the same. Before you agree to have 'armourfend' fitted, make sure it is going to be done by a fitter who is well practiced and likely to do a good job.

My experience has not been good.

Sorry to hear it. If you are referring to 3M film, I think armorfend is the same stuff too, although it comes in varying thicknesses with different degrees of sensitivity to sunlight.

FWIW my armorfend is 3 years old next month and its still perfect.
