Hands Up For a Targa GTO
Discussion
Following the suggestion in another thread...How many others might be interested in a targa version of the M12 GTO-3/M400 whereby the car shape (and all important spec) are retained and merely the fixed roof is replaced with the twin panel removable units of the GTC.
I for one wouldn't hesitate to jump for this...wheras I'm still undecided on the GTC...till I've driven it!
If PetrolTed could convert this in to one of his special "Vote For" threads that would be cool....and who knows, maybe the factory is listening (they usually are!)

As said on the other thread - YES - but without a T-bar though!
The motor show ("prototype"?!) top up mode doesn't work for me - but that's why it's there - to gauge opinion!
Unfortunately...it was confirmed that this is not a prototype...this is as it will make production.
Funny how the factory hasn't mentioned how many orders have been confirmed or new orders received on the GTC...whereas the M14 is undoubtedly a roaring success (despite several jealous souls trying to rubbish the design on these forums) and bringing in enough orders for a comment from the factory.
So...Lee, Simon and everyone at the factory, can we have an M12 GTT 3R?....well, lets see if we get a vote of approval going.
Believe me, when a car company puts a single model in front of the public for the first time they envisage potential customer opinion which may lead to (they will hope minimal, or no) changes - the change to a targa roof design is IMHO achievable.
PS - I possess a couple of rare TVR specsheets from the 80s for cars on their show stand that never came to fruition for the same reasons!

Well, I for one hope you are right...I spent several hours on the stand yesterday with both Terry (MV) and especially Simon (thanks guys!)...I never like being difficult, but I was very honest in my (constructive)criticisms of the GTC and my dilemna over whether or not to confirm...If every one else does the same then the factory will at least understand all our concerns.
My opinion alone, however, does not make a consensus. 1 chap signed up yesterday (complete with faux extra tailpipe), but I cannot gauge the success of the car.
Top down - it was attracting a lot of attention. Rear mechanism on - it was not getting as much...small observation from 2 hours on the stand...
There may well be a suitable and successful market for this car...but IMHO it doesn't deliver what the original spec indicated it would...
BTW - the roof mechanism doesn't use a T...the twin panels are interlocking.
Any more votes for the targa top GTO 3R (without a T)?
As you all know I posted that the GTC, in profile with the top up, reminded me of a Noble pick-up, and I wasn't a big fan. Having seen it today I have to say it is better in the flesh, but I think the targa is a good idea because it woult retain the original profile. I think the mesh panels on the flat section could have been raised (Carrera GT) to achieve this with the GTC, giving it the swept look we all love, but the targa idea would give us the 352bhp we love too.
