Residual Values
Discussion
All this changing around is not doing much for residual values is it??
2.5 to 3.0 GTO3 To 3R 3R to M400
Is the restructure any sort of atempt to have some sort of influence on the second hand market.Every company makes progress foward this I accept.
What will the attitude of dealers be if asked to part ex a Noble against another marque, in particular those dealers who have now been dumped and may have on there forecourt cars they have over paid for.
Micknall. Do you have any comment to make. (This is a discussion point only, I have no axe to grind on a personal level)

Maintaining price control through having a direct strategy is one thing, but lowering the price is another.
Can you see anyone paying £56k for the new cars in stock at Christopher Neil?
This will knock onto the secondhand market.
They've all been reduced to £53,450

Yes, saw that too. I was going to go test drive the black demo car with a view to buying it if I liked it the other weekend but had to work......lucky I didn't go, a £3k hit a few weeks would have been awful

Martyn,
I'm facinated by your viewpoint. Presumably when you buy a car you keep it for a few years, in that respect this price change, once discounted down through the residlual, will probably be a few hundred pounds at worse in 3 years time.
To that end you wouldn't have "lost" the 3k unless you tried to immediatly sell afterwards.
Were you therefore just expressing an "immediate" view or is there something else that I've missed?
Afterall the price drop potentially affects my "classic" () M12 as well, but it doesn't concern me as I haven't seen any second hand price changes of 2 to 3 year old cars yet (despite looking).

I think most people would be a bit pi55ed off if they'd paid £56K for something that they could have bought for £53K a couple of weeks later. Regardless of the rate of depreciation, the fact that the £3K could still be in your bank account to be spent on something else as opposed to being in the dealers bank a/c would annoy all but the wealthiest among us (or in my case, it'd be reducing my overdraft by £3K! )
Morning Justin
Hope you are well.
I was implying that I'd be sick as a parrot if I had bought the demo car....then a few weeks later the same car (in theory) had been reduced by £3K. Or if I had purchsed one of the new cars I would have paid £3K over the odds compared to the other new cars they would still have for sale.
Are you coming playing to Brunters on the 20th?
Best Regards

Price reduction - like I said in an earlier post - why havn't the factory (and/or dealers) contacted recent owners to explain the price reduction strategy and potentially reduce any growing ill-feeling?!
Basic good business practice, and a good way to keep customers, I'd have thought!

Ooops did I stray onto the Ferrari forum by mistake!
With the exception of a very few, most cars tend to drop in value the moment they are driven from the showroom.
As a fellow petrolhead, I buy my cars to drive and enjoy, not admire in some heated garage. My car is two months old and yes, £2500 is a little inconvenient but c'est la vie!!
I'm sure it won't be the last money I 'lose' on a car, and try renting it for less!!
so endeth my two penneth!
