Noble M12 GTC

Convertible Noble unveiled at NEC

Noble's other big news at the motor show was the launch of the convertible. The GTC's V6 engine has a single turbo and a relocated intercooler, reducing power to 295bhp but allowing the creation of a small (90 litre) boot at the rear.

The roof mechanism consists of a removable hoop placed behind the seats into which two targa panels are located. When the panels are removed they can then be stored behind the seats. No storage is available for the hoop though so if you choose to whip that off too then you'll need to leave it at home.

The GTC should prove a popular entry level model for Noble. Priced at £44,950 it dips in below the M12 GTO3. Options are limited with air conditioning, a track day sump and metallic paint.

First here too. This looks like a sensible evolution of the M12 for fresh air freaks, like me. Looking forward to seeing it on Thursday.

Nope - we were first

The car looks a lot better in the flesh than the pics show. Black isn't the best colour to photograph under motorshow lighting!

I'm suprised by the single turbo and reduction in power - is that just to reduce the entry cost or provide a boot ?

bit disappointed about the drop of a turbo...wanted my chattering darth vaders, now will have to make do with one.

The truncation of the scoops behind the seats also wasn't really an improvement on the original model...

but the rear end (sculpted spoiler?), and front end look fantastic

Bit of both I'd expect. £45K is in Baby Porker territory and providing some sort of storage will always be a bonus.

Yup, am here with Ted. Had a good chat with Simon as well as the guy from Roush who's done the setup on the GTC.

It's got a bit more room for storage than the GTO, but not much, not as much as the Ultima anyway

Quite keenly priced, I could be tempted....

But then again, I've seen the Sagaris up close

Actually, I've ordered a new Micra

Correct. There's still plenty of power for us mere mortals. The GTC is a 'lifestyle' choice (to quote Simon). Not everyone wants a Noble with nutter power and trackday hard suspension/setup. Admittedly, this will attract more poseurs but hey - you can't exactly be a shrinking violet with a Noble can you!

This car looks great and it is a good idea to have the boot also. I am dissapointed at the drop of power but you can't have everything!

Just as a comparison, does anyone know the boot capacity of a Series 1 Elise ?

and if you have seen Auto Express this week, 45k is the same price as the next generation C6 Corvette with over 400 bhp from 6litre V8.

(expects huge amount of abuse...just saying !)
